Culinary influences from everywhere have played a part in this restaurant's menu. Some dishes, such as Spiced Prawns and Shoestring Potatoes, can only be classified as California Cuisine. The breakfast menu is simple yet immensely tempting. Choose from gourmet omelets, build-your-own skillets, half a dozen varieties of pancakes, or several variations on Eggs Benedict. At lunchtime, a gourmet sandwich or salad may be the best bet. The decor is pointedly Mediterranean. With its old-fashioned frescoes and sand-colored sponged paint job, the place looks like an artist's rendition of an old-school Italian cafe. Open daily from 7am.
Wow...Never have I recieved such poor quality service...First off this was my first time to Carmel and I must admit the people that work or live here are all rude...I didn't only get this experience at this restaurant but other places as well. The food here is decent but the service is poor and the staff here are very rude, the reason they probably treated our table this way because either way the waitress knew she was going to get tipped because of the 18% gratuity they charge on tables of 6 or more. I wish I could give this place no stars but I have to give it something...I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone neither do I ever plan on visiting this place again...
Great place to people watch if you can sit on the patio close to the fire pit. Service is at a slow pace but that wasn't a problem for our group because we were on vacation. Daily specials are interesting and the staff seems flexible to accommodate special requests if necessary. Wouldn't call it upscale but the ingredients are fresh and the staff is interested in making you happy. Went twice within one week of vacation, one for dinner and a second time to sit on the patio and enjoy a glass of wine and a lite bite.
This was one of our favorite finds during our vacation in carmel. There were 8 of us, including 2 kids for dinner. We ate outside. WONDERFUl!!
Service was GREAT!!
Some of our favorites:
Pan Seared Salmon in Wasabi Cream
We would definatly go again!!
One of our favorite spots. The restaurant has a beautiful garden patio, with outdoor heaters, and a large fire pit in the center. We were surprised to find that at night the patio is warmer then the inside of the restaurant. Big on atmosphere. This place is a jewell right in downtown Carmel. The food is fantastic, day or night. Our favorite is the spanish paella for two. But the nightly specials are always very good. Staff is very friendly, and always greet us by name. Great place for a quick lunch, or a leisurely, romantic dinner. There are always lots of locals there, which is a good sign.
the food is pretty good (nothing amazing but definitely passable) and not too expensive considering the restuarant's location. if you can, sit on the patio near the fire - it's great during those foggy summer days on the coast.
i recommend the ceasar salad - it has olive tapenade that makes it unique.
