For the last few years, every time I pass through Fresno, I stop and eat breakfast at Cuca's. Along with homemade flour and corn tortillas, the food is excellent. I've had Mexican food in New Mexico, Arizona, and up and down California. This place is the best. I highly recommend Cuca's Original Huevos Rancheros. The sauce is great and flavorful. Also, their choice of meat for the chile colorado is tender and lean...the way it should be. I've ever been disappointed and neither have the people I've brought to this restaurant. Highly recommend.
Kudos to Cuca's for being one of the few places in the Tower that has normal restaurant hours! They are actually open for lunch.
The service at Cuca's is great. They are friendly and efficient. They don't suffer from the overbearing and rude attitude most service staff in Fresno have.
It is a nice, quaint place to have a good priced meal. The atmosphere is not extravagant, but it looks a lot better than Million Elephant down the street.
The food isn't as flavorful as it could be, but it has been consistent (again, a problem in Fresno). They have good lunch specials and offer some ok veggie options.
Cuca's is one of those places where you smell the food as soon as you walk in and it makes your mouth water. The people are friendly and the prices are very reasonable, especially when you put them side-by-side with the huge portions brought to the table. They are willing to accomodate special orders and the service staff was pleasant and efficient even during the very busy lunch rush. I have only minor complaints about the service - the girl got quite confused when trying to bring out the order for our 8-person party and a few drinks had to go back because the wrong ones were brought out. (A lot of that can probably be blamed on the growing noise of the lunch rush, but even before the place filled up, she seemed a little flaky)
