Bubbly Fish Cafe is fabulous! What a great concept of small plates with great wine pairings. The courtyard is a magical place with live music and warm blankets. Such attention to detail. A do not miss when visiting Carmel.

Not the best...

Service was very slow. Food was so-so. And after waiting forty minutes for our food, my vegitarian girlfriend was served a meat dish by mistake. Needless to say, I won't go there again.

This is no longer the Bubbly Fish, and is under new ownership with a new kitchen. Basil is FANTASTIC! The menu changes nightly because only ingredients that are fresh that day are used. Careful attention to detail and quality show in every item that comes out of the kitchen. The chef/owner and the sommelier/waiter are at the level you would normally find at the finest restaurants in Manhattan. Basil is small and fills up fast so you probably need a reservation even if you go during a week day.
