The atmosphere was nice. The entire restaurant smelled slightly old due to the carpet. The sauteed mushroom appetizer was bland, no seasoning and the alcohol was not completely cooked off. The Veal Marsala was oddly breaded and the sauce was sweet, not savory. The vegetables were doused with oil. The Chicken dish that we had was basically the same sauce as the mushrooms, and the lemon juice was overused. The minestrone was not true Italian Minestrone, but a cheap watered down version. The Ovidio's Combination plate was extremely bland and tasted like a kids plate. There was mystery meat in the raviolis.
Overall, it was bland and really overpriced for the quality of the food that they put out.
The server was inexperienced and couldn't handle the five tables that staggered in in the amount of time we were there. Our service was bare minimum. She did try hard and was very polite, just inexperienced.
Would not recommend this place to friends.
Overall, my experience was average. There were some very positive attributes: the atmosphere, the prices were reasonable, the family style dining. However, the service was slightly above average, the food was bland (how one makes bland Italian food I don't know) and the house wine was typical low quality. All in all, average.
