Since 1980, Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite has been a part of Fish Camp as one of the area's most accommodating lodgings. Located a mere 2 miles from Yosemite, Tenaya is open year round, and can play hosts to special business events or weddings. Special vacation packages range from specific events in spring or fall, romantic getaways, or family trips. There are a number of dining options in the lodge, and amenities such as spa and fitness facilities, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and you can even stay in your own cottage separate from the main lodge if you wanted to. Under fourteens go free.
We loved the Tenaya Lodge. The Lodge is ideally located just 2 miles south of the entrance to Yosemite Park. The Lodge overlooks a beautiful valley and retains a hunting lodge feel to it. The restaurants are adequate and the rooms are very nice and comfortable. The activities revolve around Yosemite and are seasonal--check these out before deciding when to visit. We enjoyed the outdoor campfires during the chilly December evenings, and we almost decided to go ice skating on the pond behind the Lodge. We highly recommend the hotel.
Don't stay at the Apple Tree Inn next door. It's dirty. For the money, Tenaya is a much better value. Off-season rates are great. Ideal run/hike/cross country ski on the dirt road right out from the hotel parking lot. Sleigh rides in winter, too.
This is a very nice hotel with nice resort facilities and lots of organized events, services and activities to choose from. The restaurants are reasonably priced and serve good food. I went there with my wife and two sons, 2 and 6 years old.
My only observation/warning is that this hotel is quite far from Yosemite Valley (50 minute drive) and it's apparently managed by young, inexperienced employees (if there was any experienced management onsite, they were not visible during our stay). We stopped by the Awahnee and the Lodge which are right in the bottom of the valley - we would not have wanted to stay in those places unless our kids were older and/or we were really into the hiking and exploring of the main Yosemite valley.
From the Tenaya, we had easy access to the giant Sequoias and the Logger steam train which were both fun adventures for us and our kids. I would recommend this place for families because the rooms were good sized and the grounds/facilities are kid-friendly. The beds were extremely comfortable!
Its a beautiful hotel in a great location. It was originally built as part of a major hotel group. When I returned a few years later for a business trip, it had gone independent and it was not as good, but the prices were the same.
While this place does have many great features and is in a beautiful location, it needs to work on some things to deserve the price they charge.
All details aside, their massage department is great! I received a sports massage, one of the best I have ever had. On your way up to yosemite at least stop here for a massage :)
Best thing I saw was the entrance. Lodge is billed as a luxury hotel. Rooms were adequate but not worth the $300+ a night rate. Not at all as nice as their website. You are basically getting a Motel 6 room for at an outrageous rate. 3 restaraunts on site. The one we ate at food was overpriced and not very good.
Loved the rooms, the environment, the friendly service. The only thing to keep in mind (especially if you're planning on touring Yosemite) is that this hotel is OUTSIDE Yosemite National Park, so you have to drive or take a bus to see Half Dome, the Big Trees, etc., so be prepared to rent a car.
The food in their restaurant is excellent, the breakfast buffet is great, and they have smart box lunches you can pickup to take with you when you go to the park.
There's horseback riding just up the street, and a huge indoor/outdoor pool.
This hotel is somewhat pricey, but definately worth the money!
This train is a restoration of the narrow gauge Madera Sugar Pine Lumber Company Railroad. The four mile track was
rebuilt using original techniques, and it runs two vintage shay steam locomotives pulling a few passenger cars. You will ...
