We Chose this restaurant for convenience. Our Hotel was nearby so we figured it to be a perfect location. Upon entering restaurant we found it to be very outdated and somewhat unclean. Food was served in an untimely manner since there was only one other table of guest we expected faster service. The sweet and sour soup was delicious but the the other dishes were either tasteless or spoiled...AND...this is without exaggeration!!!!!!. The older women who took order and served us went from nice to rude for no apparent reason. We found the whole experience very unsatisfying and would recommend another establishment if you expect fresh foods, comfortable/clean seating and decent service.
I love the Jade Gazebo. We've been eating here at minimum 1-2 times a month. There are a couple other Chinese places in town, but this one is the best if you're wanting homestyle, fresh, Chinese food. We've never been disappointed. Yes, the decor and ambiance are very much lacking. But we go for the food. It's family run...and that makes it quaint and I'm a little more forgiving about the decor, because they're very nice.
Today was the first time I ever went to Jade Gazebo. I was on my way back from Yosemite and decided to try some Chinese Food. The outside of the restaurant looks simple, but just unique enough for me to try out their food. Inside the restaurant was fairly small but possibly able to hold a couple of small tables. There was only 1 waiter servicing the whole restaurant. I ordered some Chicken Fried Rice and an order of egg roll. The Chicken Fried Rice tasted very bland and the egg rolls were very dark as if it was left in the freezer for quite a long while. I'm Chinese myself and I've definitely tasted better food than this. I'm not talking about fancy high class Chinese restaurant, but typical average fast food stores like in the bay area. And yes, I do expect a little more from the cost portion.
If you're looking for a romantic night out, this might not be the place for something fancy. The service was mediocre and overall I probably will go somewhere else the next time I go to Yosemite for a vacation. Also, do not park on the parking spot that is not for this restaurant, you could get towed.
Very good food in a downscale decor.
Hot and Sour, and the Wanton soups were generously proportioned and delicious. The fried dumplings where crispy and better than average. The sesame chicken was delicate and tasty. The pork lo mein was light and flavorful. The shrimp with lobster sauce was typical fare.
The only complaint was the run down interior. If you are looking for a good Chinese food on you way out of Yosemite, you won't be disappointed unless you look around the dining room.
