Jake's Steakhouse, Tehachapi

My husband and I live in Stallion Springs. It was our 48th wedding ann. and my brother and sister-in-law drove 3 hours to come to Tehachapi and take us out to dinner. They called ahead and made reservations at Jake's. We arrived and were seated promptly. Food was delivered in an expedient manner, albeit one of the Prime Rib dinners had begun to congeal. MAIN PROBLEM-SPIDERS!! We were seated at a booth with an overhead spotlight. During the course of our dinner 8 baby spiders dropped out of the light and were caught by one of us, before it landed on the table or in our food. One of them actually landed on the frames of my husbands glasses, enrout to the table! We brought this to the attention of a bearded gentleman (mgr.??). He said I've never seen anything like that before. I will have to talk to the exterminator!! Did not offer to move us, apologize, discount our dinner, NOTHING. The server did take 10% off of our bill and asked if we would like desert as it would be on the house. You have got to be joking, we could not get out of there fast enough. I have been to Jake's before but have to say......don't think I will be going back anytime soon. This was Sept. 5, 2010. We were seated at the second wall booth from the front. Not sure who the bearded gentleman was but did not handle the situation in an appropriate manner. He did finally come and ask if he could remove our plates, while we were catching spiders in our dinner napkins! We suggested they shut that booth down until further inspection. BAD, BAD BUSINESS.

I had the pasta and it tasted like it didn't have enough seasoning. I also tried some of my husband's steak and the presentation was horrible along with the taste. I would never recomend this restaurant to anyone. I also would never go to this place again

My wife and I had dinner at Jake's Steakhouse on Monday 10/12/09. We were a bit early so there were only 2 other groups in the restaurant. The service was excellent and the staff attentive. The menu is full of choices for any taste and the prices reasonable. We both had pasta dishes; my wife had the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and I had the Seafood Pasta. Both were excellent as well as the salads and bread which accompanied the meal. My wife said this is the best Fettuccine Alfredo she has ever had! Check this place out!

Not what I expected. My fiance and I wanted to try something new in Tehachapi and wanted a nice steak dinner. We got to Jake's and it took a while for anyone to seat us, then when we did finally get a table we were shocked at the prices. We decided to stick it out and try the food, my pasta was run of the mill and my fiances steak was over cooked and just not tender. A total rip off for the quality of food we received. I'd rather go to Gracian Grill any day then go back here for over priced bad food.

What a difference!! First of all, the food is great. Presentation, flavor and their steaks are top notch. The bar, booths and atmosphere were just what we both needed. Very elegant and relaxing.

I had a very decent dinner here in May of 2012. Good steak. No this isn t in the class of a big city steakhouse where a ribeye alone goes for $40, but of course neither are the prices. The quiet side street location is appealing and Tehachapi is always fun to visit. If I lived there, Jake s would be on my list of regular places to eat.
