OK, so I read the reviews on this restaurant before going there. My family wanted to take me out for my birthday and this is where I picked because another reviewer said the meatball soup was worth losing a toe over. That sold me. When we got there, we had to find someone to seat us. The guy was just about running the entire place by himself. It was good until the rest of the staff arrived. However, the soup was not worth losing anything over. It was too salty, as was my dinner of crab enchaladas. I couldn't even eat it. Then we asked for a refill for my son's soda (which the waiter had put in a to go cup) and we were told they would have to charge us for it. My husband asked for a to go cup for his iced tea, again, we'd be charged. I waited to speak to the waiter who took our order and asked about why we'd be charged and he said that people take their to go cups outside and just throw them down. Didn't make sense to me. NEVER at any of the restaurants we've been to have we been told there would be an extra charge, NEVER. And we've eaten at tons of places. So the food was too salty (and I love salt) and they wouldn't let us take the rest of our drinks home without charging us. The guy finally gave us cups, didn't refill my son's so I gave my son the rest of my soda, and then my son accidentally dropped it in the lobby on the way out. I will say this about the server (the original), our chip basket only ran out once. After that he was constantly refreshing it. As well as the drinks. Until the rest of the staff came in and then I had to ask a server for more drinks and for extra napkins, at which they only gave 3. We will never go back there again, never. I would have enjoyed McDonalds better for my birthday. And it was a one shot deal so my birthday dinner is wasted. Your experience may be different. It all depends on the time of day, the crowd and the individual serving you. But they need to take all the salt out of the kitchen or hire a new chef.
Domingo's used to be my favorite restaurant in Tehachapi when I first moved here. But the service, food, and atmosphere have truly deteriorated over the past 5 years or so. The atmosphere is still the best thing they have going, because they have a bar, TVs, and nice seating arrangements. Other than that the breakfast brunch might be the only thing you enjoy. Horrible food and service, horrible!
