Upon my stay in California I happen to come across what looked like a cute French bistro. When I walked through it's doors for the first time I was taken aback by the strong presence of what smelled similar to freshly cropped marijuana. Â I did not even know marijuana was legal in this county of California. The service was very slow, the food was expensive and alright at best. Â A very nice front for the marijuana crop that reeks potent from behind this establishment.Â

I love this place. They accomodate my vegetarian diet with attention to flavor and presentation. My children love the fries. We have been treated to everything from french onion soup to Alegrian hummus. The owner/chef is a creative culinary genius. Calling ahead to see if they are open is helpful.

FOOD POISONING! called in to warn the owners (it's a cute mom and pop restaurant -- hate to give it a bad review, but it's food poisoning!) when i told them i'd gotten sick from their restaurant, they yelled over and over that there was no way they could have been the source -- they wouldn't even consider the fact that the food was bad. beware.

Worth the wait!

Very yummy French/Italian cuisine- relaxed environment- but usually quite a wait. I found the wait nice and relaxing, but make sure to order some appetizers and drinks!!!!

Amazing!

Here in Independence, CA is a family from Paris who run a very cute French restaurant. They make Madame and Monsieur sandwiches that are to die for. Instead of pepper, they serve teensy-tiny whole peppercorns (about the size of coarse ground pepper) on these sandwiches. The bleu cheese hamburger is world class. They have a good lamb shank and other delights for dinner. You can practice your French and have a memorable meal at the Still Life. Am I a family member? NO! I just want this place to survive. Check it out!
