My husband and I went there this week and had lunch in the grill. I must say things have changed quite a bit. The food was good as was the service. One thing is still not so good is that they still serve instant ice tea. Come on a top notch place being lazy and serving instant tea.
recently had beef wellington at duceys. the beef was old and the pastry was greasy and soggy with a taste of old oil, guess they can't make that kind of thing fresh. the pie was supposed to be banana cream, but it was also very old and the cream was rubbery custard, not cream. of course the bananas were dark brown. all this for a whole lot of money.
Ducey's is actually two restaurants in one. The lower area is a formal sit down restaurant with very high prices. Upstairs is the bar and grill restaurant with high prices but more laid back. Unfortunately, with the recent change in management at Ducey's, the prices have gone up even more, and the quantity/quality has gone down. We use to be a regular, but now we go to Mountain House down the hill on hwy 41 just outside of Oakhust. It’s half the cost and better quantity/quality. Ducey's is good for a drink on the patio and a great view of the lake, but skip the dinner.
I have been to Ducey's on the Lake for many special occassions and have never been dissapointed with my meals. I have heard this same comment from many of my friends. By far the Lobster is voted # 1 in my circle of friends and we have tried Lobster on many vactions to the California central coast. The chefs at Ducey's know what they are doing.
