The food was great and the service even better. We were waited on by a young man named Todd who did a great job! He was pleasant, informational and very knowledgeable of the food he was serving. Try the clam chowder it is truly the best I have ever had.
Great views! The best was the steamed clams appetizer; amazing sauce! Friendly waiters. Make a reservation for dinner. We did and got a great window seat while others had to wait 45 minutes. The shrimp and chips dinner comes with enormous shrimps and plenty of them. The mahi special was a little dry. Overall, it was a good experience and we'd return again.
Steamers used to be great. Great food, great service, great view, great bar. I used to go at least 1-2 times per week either for a business lunch or a weekend dinner. In the last couple of years there has been a slow deterioration in service and food quality and consistency. We quickly realized that the entire management staff turned over and was turning over frequently. Then we heard the chef left. The same chef who wrote the menu. It is just not the same restaurant it used to be. This used to be our favortie place but we just don't want to spend that kind of money anymore to be crammed in with the tourists (no offense) and eat tourist food. What a shame to see such a great place fall so far becuase they can't seem to stay consistent. Maybe they bring back the chef and the original management.
One good thing about this restaurant is the clam chowder... it claims to be award winning.. it is good, but not award winning. The host sat us down and saw that we had a toddler as we walked in but sat us down at a table that was much higher than the average high chair and once we asked to move, he said that we had to wait to be seated again after we already settled in. The food was overpriced and just mediocore... a local fish and chips place would probably be comparable and much cheaper too. The views were beautiful, but the shades were drawn down until it was almost sunset so we were not even paying for the views. I would recommend not coming to this establishment if you like good seafood.
The clam chowder was excellent. The Rybeye was also very very good. If you get one of the higher booths, you don't really need a window table. Our waitress was excellent. Overall the price was fairly reasonable as well given it is peak season in a beach town.
Let me start off by saying that our waiter was wonderful. I don't remember his name, but he was extremely friendly and talked to us like fellow people rather than waiter-to-customer. The calamari and coconut shrimp are amazing, and the view is just to die for. Great place to take a date to eat good food and watch the sunset. My only drawback is that since it's a restaurant directed towards everyone, there was a screaming young baby there-it kind of killed the ambiance. It's slightly pricey, especially for us poor college students, but i would definitely go back every once in a while.
I would recommend you head over there for the early bird specials. I had a steak (8 oz) & shrimp (4 pieces) for $20. The food was good. I think the clam chowder might be overrated. Ours was a bit salty. It did have a good texture though. The view was excellent even though we didn't have a booth and the weather wasn't that great.
I reviewed this restaurant and thought this would be a great place to eat. We arrived at 1p.m. and someone was not feeling well, they called 911, and it seemed all the workers were tending to this one person instead of seating people. That should have been a sign for us to walk out. It took over an hour to be seated and over an hour to get our food. That is a long time to wait for food when you have toddlers. And the restaurant was not even busy. The food was not all that great and a little pricey for lunch. I would never go there again. I think I would have been better off with fish and chips down by the pier.
Where else can you come right off the beach, slide into a booth with a killer view, and watch the sunset while you discover how creatively the chef can prepare seafood. The seafood is fresh, varied, but a little expensive.
