We wanted to grab lunch in Lompoc and drove by the Rice Bowl. It had a great retro look to it and I figured it was the kind of chow mein house that I grew up with. Americanized Chinese food that was not authentic, but still full of flavor and has it's own unique menu items and good tastes.
It was retro and the inside could have been a movie set from 1960. It made me a little nervous to see how empty it was at noon on a Saturday. I noticed all the fish tanks had not been cleaned and they all had dirty, dirty water and full of green slime.
I ordered a sweet and sour pork. Seemed like a safe and easy bet. Both the pork and my eggs rolls had a bitter taste to them. I then recognized that they fried both items in old and dirty oil that left a filmy taste in your mouth.
I did not finish my meal as it tasted so oily and filmy. They still charged me and did not apologize or seem to care.
We left and stopped for fast food on the way out of town. I need something to get the horrible taste out of my mouth!
OMG! The place smells! The service is poor! The only soft drink they have is coke! We were the only ones there and it took them 20 minutes to serve us what we ordered (chicken chow fun and 4 jumbo fried shrimp)! The food presentation was awful, it taste like it looks(believe me, it's not good)! The food it's over priced! The only good thing I have to say about this place is that I'm never ever going there again!!!
Avoid this place. My roommate's food had a hair in it. I ordered hot&sour soup, since the menu said it had meat. They served me inedible vinegar-ful egg drop soup with chiles. I sent it back and they still charged me for it.
I agree with the guys from the East Coast.. This place should have been close along time ago... My family and I ate there and while we were waiting for our food there was a roach walking on the table and the waitress didn't wash her hands in between handling the food and cash . This place needs to be close.. I also have a niece that used to work there and said the owner would drop food on the floor and still cook it.
came to Lompoc from east coast Baltimore Md.,so I 'm use to corner store take out chinese food, cheap and delicious, open all nite atleast until 3am...not on west coast the food here was nasty, not only over priced but I thought take out would be faster ,not here, cute latina took food order, told me that it woulb be 30-35 minutes???totally caught me off guard, when have you ever seen hispanics work in a chinese restuarant??? then after about 20 min the owner comes out and ask me if I like green onions wtf???so after about another 15 minutes my order is ready and its in a big raw produce box, like I ordered for 10,cost $34.84 for shrimp egg foo young, shrimp lomein, fried wong tong, sweet n sour shrimp...back home this would have been only $ 23.55. got home and the shrimp still had shells on them, egg patties were filled with onion, and the noodle used for the lomein was oodles of noodles,I really want my money back ,back home this place would have been closed cause as I waited for my food, a roach crawled across the counter and the waitress was washing dishes in cold water!!! Good thing I didn't eat in. don't waste your money ,place in Santa Maria was much better!!
