AWFUL!!!!!
By ,
It was our anniversary. We’d been planning it for months. The focus of our trip was always going to be the resort itself—especially our private hot tub since I suffer from joint and back pain. But just a HALF HOUR before our check-in time, they call to tell us that, as a result of “maintenance problems,” we would have to be moved to another resort altogether. They assuaged us by promising it would be just as nice; a place “right on the ocean.” But the room we actually got cost half as much as the one we’d booked at Sycamore, didn’t even have a fridge or ice on the whole floor, and overlooked a PARKING LOT! (Obviously it didn’t have a hot tub either). Our room looked like the kind of room you book when you're in town for some unexpected reason, like business or a funeral. It was the cheapest one at the resort. No ambiance. Certainly no romance. Needless to say, it wasn’t a great trip. It turned out to be a waste of gas, mileage, and time. We weren't really able to do much about it at the time because they checked us in so late. So when we got home, we wrote them a nice letter, explaining what had happened. We weren’t sure what to expect, but we expected SOMETHING—maybe some time at the spa? Instead, we received no response. Nothing. I was shocked. Frankly, I think we dodged a bullet with this place and we will never try staying here again.

Think twice before staying here!!
By ,
The surrounding of the hotel (spa) are very nice but the actual rooms are less than average and management is less than cordial. If I had to make a comparison, I would say the room is on par with a Motel 6. My girlfriend booked this trip as a birthday get away. We check into the room the first night and we could here every little sound from the room above. This included walking, running, dropping things, the bed moving, etc. The walls were so thin we could also here everything our side neighbors did also. After the second day of this, we went to the manager to just ask if they could speak to our upstairs neighbors. She called back an hour later and stated that they were at full capacity and that they could not upgrade us, unless we paid?? First, we did not ask for an upgrade. Second, if they are at full capacity, how is there only an upgrade if we paid? Again the scenery around the property is beautiful. The rooms are musty, not maintained, mold in the corner of the spa. At the amount we paid for the room, you’d expect that the rooms would be kept up to par with a resort or spa

Do not stay!
By ,
My wife and I saw the website and thought this would be a great place t stay. The thought of having a hot tub with the room and a suite under the $200 range would be great. When we arrived we almost didn't even go into the lobby. It looked like a appartment complex. The outside of the buildings were dirty and needed pressure washing. We could not get our money back so we decided to stay. The inside of the room was dirty with 80s decor. The bed was not soft and the pictures onthe website were a lie. The hot tube was a joke. You have to fill it yourself and you do so with a PVC pipe. This place is a rip off and don't waste your money. Stay at the madonna inn for the same price.

We cant wait to go back

I've been all over the world but I grew up on the central coast. SMS has always been a wonderful experience in my dating years. Now in my marriage, this is where my wife and I come to be treated like a Queen and King. I will always come here whenever I have he chance. Don't listen to anyone who gives this place less than four stars. They obviously don't know what they are talking about. Some people are never satisified no matter what. Try it you'll like it!!!

My husband and I loved our three day stay
By ,
This was our first visit and we found the staff was not helpful in any way. We found our own way around and enjoyed the beauitful gardens and hot tubs. The resturant service was better than average. I would suggest the staff upon check in give new guest a information package

Positive Experience
By ,
The staff was very friendly throughout our stay, and when we arrived we were even offered a ride to our hotel by the staff passing by on their golf cart. We had a basic room in the Adventure building and it was very nice. (I would request a second floor room next time if we didn't stay in the suites.) When we walked in we noticed the carpet had just been freshly shampooed and the entire room was very clean. There was a mineral spring hot tub on the surprisingly large deck. The sulfer smell took a little getting used too but was not that bad---Very relaxing. We rented a private tub which I highly recommend. I wish we wouldn't have waited until the last night of our stay to do so because it was very nice. We ate at the hotel restaurant and the food was very good. We had the clams and mussels appetizer, I had the special of the day artichoke ravioli and my husband had a steak, and for dessert the flourless chocolate cake. Along with a few glasses of wine our bill with tip was around $160. Well worth it! We had a a great experience and will return!

Not the same
By ,
My family and I have been coming here for the past 10 years. Each time I go it gets progressivley worse. It used to be quaint and relaxing, but it is now obvious a corporation has gotten a hold of it. They used to offer bath robes and access to the changing rooms and rest rooms. Now you are offered a towel and a porta a potty. The tubs used to be cedar now they are fiberglass. The setting used to be secluded now it is more open and there is garbage under the tubs. I brought my daughter there for a mother daughter get away and we spotted condom wrappers under the tub. GROSS! The will loose a lot of loyal customers if this keeps up. I know I will never return to that dump.
