I personally have never eaten here but have had the pleasure today to witness the owner and her son in court today totally destroy this poor lady who is the mother of a little girl. It was so sad to see and hear all they were doing to paint this poor woman as a bad person, the slung mud at her son, her brother and her lifestyle. She used to be the cook at the diner and the owners son got her pregnant. These people should be ashamed and nobody should ever spend their hard earned money supporting this family. They even fired her in an attempt to make her look like a bad mother to better their case. SHAME. There is a special place in hell for people like you. I had to watch him smirk the whole time he was on the witness stand lying and hear his mother behind me feeding him his answers. I know this is a review of restaurants but isn t the family behind the business just as important. Would you support a business that was owned by a drug cartel or a terrorist. I know that is a reach but honestly I look at them even lower, lying and destroying this poor woman who is the mother of his child and her grandchild. Luckily the happy ending is the judge didn t buy any of it and granted joint custody. I respect the hell out of him.
If you wanna grab a bite while you're escaping the city, Kernville's crowned jewel is Cheryl's Diner. It's in the middle of downtown Kernville next to the Fire Station and a patio that overlooks the main drag. The entire town feels good. The service was great, Cheryl's granddaughter, Jessica, took good care of us and my party of rowdy 20-something campers all left with full bellies and beaming smiles. If you're up that way and need a solid meal with a good local vibe, Cheryl's is the spot.
Every time our group of 12-15 people would go to Kernville, we use to go Cheryl's just because of one the waitresses name Rita but now she's gone, we don't go. Wait, we did go one time and it took forever. We found another place. Don't waste your time or money.
I make a point of having breakfast at Cheryl's EVERY time I visit Kernville - there's just no place like it for great food! The place is lively, the service is exceptional, and the biscuits and gravy are out of this world - who could ask for more?? Wish I could move the whole place right down the street from me. Keep up the good work, everyone!
I was sadly disappointed with the service from this place. the food was ok, but I ordered a corn dog for my 3 year old daughter and it came to the table frozen. The waitress then made me feel like it was my fault because i was mad about my daughters lunch being inedible. I was shocked by her rudeness and will never return. So if you like to eat crap with your fries this is the place for you.
My son and I ate dinner and breakfast at Cheryl's before rafting the next morning. We loved the mini-breakfast. The food is all-American and updated diner fare. If Cheryl's was in LA it would be a huge hit. The pies are WONDERFUL!
Every town has a place like Cheryl's (old school, family-owned) and Kernville is LUCKY to have this place. In a town with limited lunch choices, Cheryl's was a treasure to find. Pretty much standard diner fare, but the style and service more than make up for any culinary deficit. The pies alone are worth the return visits.
The breakfast is awesome, but the rest of the meals there are average. Not enough healthy choice meals. A lot of breaded and deep fried food, and that's not for me. So if you like that kind of food, this is the place to be, otherwise, stay clear for lunch and dinner. The staff there is very friendly, so it makes it a nice atmosphere.
