I went and picked up some food to go, I couldn t believe they charge for the containers and also they put a gruitity. I live in San Luis Obispo and they don t have those charges. I have never heard of a resturant charging you for the container/gruitity. Maybe it s only in Santa Barbara. I will never go back. The food was OK, the chicken was a little tuff, definitely not worth me stoping there again or eating there,.
This resturant needs some help... The staff is rude and you have to account for about an hour wait for your food and the same to get a seat... the drinks are good... the food has large portions but its average quality... I have been here several times (more that 10)for birthday parties and celebrations etc.
Its not on my list of resturants, but ill go for the occational party
My wife and I had the best service and the most delicious food at Palazzio. I can understand why everyone told us to go to Palazzio for Italian food in Santa Barbara. The waiters were professional and very nice. I espcially liked the Garlic Martini and the special dessert that had been served to President Ronald Reagan. When we return, we will be going to Palazzio.
Food is fair, portions are too large for one person. Always buy 1/2, share with a friend. Service was lousy when we were there. Had to ask for EVERYTHING, water more than twice. Never will go again. Palazzio's is the BEST!
From the self-serve wine to the friendly staff (ask anyone at all for help) to te massive portions, this is Italian food as home-away-from-home.
The food is great, down to the last detail (especially the tasty details of their own blend of coffee courtesy Santa Barbara Roasting Company and the Tiramisu that was served to Reagan). Pasta is a bit sauce-heavy, but delicious.
The service was very friendly, if a little forgetful at time. We had a great meal and left in high spirits.
Palazzio is a strange thing in Santa Barbara. You can visit on a budget, and eat like a king! The first thing you'll notice, and the staff will point out, are the portions. They are not greedy with their food. A single, small plate, is enough to feed two people easily. I suggest that if you order any of their large portions (which should actually be re-named enormous) you bring four people, because that's the only way you're going to finish what they brought you.
The meals are well prepared, and the service prompt. The staff are always making sure you have warm garlic rolls on your plate, and as has been stated...you can ask for assistance from any staff on the floor. They are all there to help.
Palazzio is great for a romantic dining atmosphere, but just as suited for groups of friend or family.
The patio is small, but nice. If you're cold, they have heat lamps set up near the outside seating, which will keep you toasty on a cool night.
They bar selection is excellent, and the bar tenders are usually the nicest folks you'll meet there.
My only complaint would have to be the one restroom, which usually has a line...but the rest is so good that it's not really an issue.
Great, great dining...and good people.
