We arrived here last night with a large group of approximately 13-15 people. The waitresses were great and found us all a spot to sit together even though we had not called ahead to reserve a spot. I was really looking forward to trying the food and drinking a couple beers. My boyfriend and I ordered our food and a beer each. We received our drinks promptly and the waitress was great even with the large party. One person in our party was a bit boisterous and must have caught the attention of the manager, even though the atmosphere in this place was noisy to begin with. When my boyfriend and I ordered another beer, we were informed by the waitress that the manager would not allow anyone in our party (15 people!) to order any alcoholic beverages. I was shocked, as I do understand it is an establishments right to refuse serving alcohol to over-inebriated individuals, I could not understand the rational in denying an entire party of 14 drinks. My boyfriend told the waitress to immediately cancel my order as I refused to give this establishment anymore money.
My boyfriend and his friend requested to speak to the manager, whom was un-waivering in his choice to not allow anyone in our party to have any more beverages, even after acknowledging that my boyfriend, and his friend were not too inebriated and the least boisterous of anyone in the restaurant. He then immediately insulted us by telling us we could have water instead.
If you are looking for a fun place to have some Italian food and a few beers (as advertised on the website) DO NOT GO HERE. It is apparent by the managers actions he expects selective people to act like we are at Sunday service, while allowing other guests to continue drinking and creating a joyous atmosphere.
FIRST AND LAST TIME I EVER SPEND MONEY HERE
If I was the business owner I would be very suspicious of a manager who refuses alcohol en mass, since it is normally beers/alcohol where establishments make more profit.
I recently went into Ventura Spaghetti Company having not been there since the remodel. The place looks amazing!!!! I didn't even recognize it after walking in-which is a good thing if you have seen the old place. There is now a Bar with TV's, and although they only have beer and wine for now, the alcohol prices are great! $2 beers and wine as cheap as $4!! They also have a new Bar Appetizer menu with homemade mozarella sticks, bbq chicken potato skins, and much more. The garlic Parmesan fries were my favorite! a huge bowl of fries for only $5!! I liked how they still had some of their old menu items, but they also added an assortment of delicious looking sandwiches and salads perfect for lunch time when I want a quick bite. I decided to try something new which my server recommended-the Homemade stuffed shells. They were to die for!
ALL in ALL I'm rating this restaurant a 5! My server was so nice and friendly, the prices are great (nothing over $13 dollars) the food was excellent, and the new decor was sheik and modern.
I have always been a fan of this restaurant. So many amazing things on the menu. I would definitely recommend the fried artichoke appetizer and one of many delicious sandwiches. From the remodel to the excellent customer service this is a family restaurant that has become a new favorite.
Have really enjoyed the spaghetti and meatball dinner served here over the years. Recently ordered this item from the menu and found it to be absolutely terrible. The sauce had no flavor and ditto for the meatballs. Have not recenly tried any of their other menu selections. Perhaps they are under new management and have all new recipes. Also, their prices have increased which is probably not all that uncommon. Did not, however, appreciate paying more for lower quality food.
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Ventura County!! The food is delicious and the staff is so helpful and wonderful! The new owner remodeled the interior and it looks more upscale. It is a complete 180 to the old decor. They are currently in the process of building a bar and I cannot wait for it to be completed! The food quality has really improved and the portions are perfect. Everything from start to finish in this restaurant has imporved! I am very impressed.
Bruce Springsteen, Devo, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns & Roses, George Clinton, and Jesus and Mary Chain are just some
of the legendary artists that have performed at the Ventura Theatre. Hip will have a new meaning to you ...
