Casa de Soto is my favorite mexican restaurant to go do. It has a closer authentic feel to the food than a fast food-ish place like El Torito, etc. They give HUGE portions for a small price. I get the 3 item combo with a shredded beef taco, shredded beef enchilada and a big shredded beef burrito for $9.00. Their drinks are massive too. For $5.00 you get a big Mai Tai that will give anyone a buzz. The salsa they give with the chips is yummy too. The owners are very nice and service is fast. I have ate here for many years and never had a problem with anything. All of my friends love it and we try to eat there at least once a month.
I Can Give The Best Review Ever...It Opened In 1973....Me I Was Born In 1971...Been Going There Since They Opened Basically Till 1987... Then Came Back In 1991...They Are GRRREat...The Food ,The Drinks ...Everything ...Including The Staff ...Some Of Them Remember Me Coming In As A Youngin' With My Family....I Highly Miss The Place Now ,Since I Have Been Living In North Cali And Havent Been Down There Since 1991,But Hopefully Some Day If I Get Down That Way I Will Be Going Back To What I Know Kinda Like A Second Home To Me And I Know Where I Can GRRREATS Foods And Drinks...And Very Welcoming Staff Members....MIss The Restaurant Like Crazy ...It's Allways In My Thoughts Somewhere....WoooHooo...!!!!!! Miss The Main Owner Tony...You Made The Best Margaritas...I Know Cause Had My Share Of Having Them Before I Was Legal To Drinks Hehe ....:-) BEST EVERYTHING IN MY EYES...But That Is And Be My Opinions ,Right...!!!!!!
The first time I ate in Casa DE SOTO was January 1982 and found the seating and service was fast, the employees curtious and the food outstanding. Nothing has changed in the 26 years I've eaten there. It's the same great menu. I highly recommend the chile colorado platter as I've not found any mexican restaurant in San Diego, Orange, Riverside, San Bernadino, Los Angeles, Ventura, or Kings counties that even come close to it. The menu has a vast assortment of choices from dinner plates to a la carte along with a childrens menu, appetizers and great drinks. The pricing is reasonable too. A final observation is the high number of police officers and city employees that dine there on a daily basis. My experience tells me that it's a sign of a great restaurant.
