Summit House Restaurant

Description

For Centuries the English Inn has earned a great reputation for Friendly faces, cozy rooms and cheery firesides. As soon as guests come to the Inn, the charming host and hostesses run to greet them. In front of a crackling fire one can partake of good hearty fare - the tankard is always full - the spit hung with roasting beefs - and a table heaped with sweets and such. The Inn keepers of the Summit House were inspired by the custom to create a hospitable place where friends could meet to eat, drink and delight in the views of North Orange County's countryside. To one and all, welcome!

Escargots Bourguignonne are served in a Brandy Pernod Garlic Butter. OMG, this is just like I remembered it. The Summit House was my first experience with escargot. Being from Hawaii, we eat lots of sea snails (called tsubu in Japanese). Escargot is so much better as it absorbs the flavor of anything that you serve with it. The Brandy Pernod Garlic Butter sauce is amazing! The escargot explodes with flavor. Tip: when you scoop the escargot from the holder or shell, make sure you dig deep to pick up the garlic chunks on the bottom. If you have eaten all of the escargot, take your bread and soak up the leftover buttery garlic flavor. Your bread is now a beautifully garlic flavored delicacy. Thumbs up, way up! Rib Eye Steak is a 20-ounce USDA Prime bone-in rib eye, oak wood grilled, and served with straw onions and Gruyere au gratin potatoes. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare with an awesome char-grilled seal. The steak was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The au gratin potatoes had a splendid brown crust of cheese on top and creamy layered potato goodness underneath. The vegetables were sautéed to perfection allowing them to retain their crispy greenness. The fried onion straws were okay. The dish would probably be fine without them. Thumbs up, way up! Since we were celebrating my husband’s birthday, they brought out a little something sweet to end our evening. The Summit English Trifle is layers of rum and brandy soaked cake with English custard, strawberries, Chantilly cream, and toasted almonds. I love that they had a little “Happy Birthday” chocolate placard and a candle to make a wish. The trifle was scrumptious and light. This was the perfect end to a heavily-laden meal of beef. Thumbs up, way up!

I live very close but have only eaten at this restaurant a few times. The food is always good but not what I consider to be outstanding. I typically eat prime rid. I would say it is equivalent to the Reef by the Queen Mary in Long Beach but more expensive; not as good as typical at Lawry’s the Prime Rib or Five Crowns. The Summit is also more expensive than Lawry’s. The view can be good depending on your seat location. Service is always good, but expected to be for the price. I plan soon try it out again. I would give it higher rating if they lowered the prices.

We got married here about a year and a half ago. It's been long overdue to express our appreciation to the staff of this establishment. From the manager, coordinators and even the head waiter that day made this such a phenomenal event. I would recommend this place for weddings and other events. Thanks, Angelico and Riza Wedding 6-25-06

A very special place!
By ,
My fiance took me to the Summit House on our engagement night. We had heard so many nice things about the restaurant and had to see for ourselves. What a special place for a very special occasion. The food, view, ambiance and the piano music was perfect. I can't wait to go back.

night to remember

I am a good cook, and very critically when it comes to good food. The Summit House was not just appealing to the eyes, but your taste buds will cry out to you from the inside! Beautiful British style setting, with a bar and a piano player who plays new and old songs...thats a plus! There are also private rooms for those who need peace and quiet, or business meetings. My experiencen there was unforgetable, not to mention the supurb service that comes with a classy restaurant. MMMMMmmmm I love steak!!! Try everthing.

Great wedding reception!
By ,
We held our wedding reception here last July, and everything was perfect. Since we are both 50-something, we wanted something classy, but not boring, and this place was exactly what we were seeking. Our guests raved about the wonderful food (we went with the buffet luncheon), the lovely ambiance and view, and the impeccable service from the staff, especially Carmen, our reception manager, who guided us through every detail, and saw that the entire affair ran seamlessly. It was a wonderful experience!
