Outside table was great... especially during sunset. Great view of the harbor. There are outside heaters to keep you warm if things get chilly.
Inside is also well appointed. Service was Ok ..personable waiter but required several requests to bring bread, drinks etc. Clam chowder was very good... a little spice with nice pieces of clam . Very good crusty sourdough bread. Chicken satay appetizer was dry and the sauce was boring. You want good chicken satay.... visit Singapore. Spinach stuffed Atlantic salmon was moist and well presented over mashed potatoes but somewhat on the bland side..nothing memorable on the palate. A little Wasabi in the mashed would have helped. Food overall was average.. Pretty good and reasonably priced wine list. Found an '04 Freemark Abbey Merlot for $38 which was nice.
SanJoseGeorge rates this restaurant a B.

I took my wife to Rusty Pelican on 8/29/08. She was very excited because we were waiting to see the sunset. While there, we ordered an Ahi appetizer and she found a piece of hard plastic in the dish. They said it was a piece of scale. I told them that I am in the seafood business and the way they process the fish, there will never be scales on it. Either way, they politely argued and took back the ahi...only to give us another one to replace it. Then we ordered cocktails. Her martini was not full at all and the drinks are terrible and taste like juice. What's going on with this restaurant?
I remember Rusty Pelican as a classy place with great food and drinks. What's going on? It's very disappointing. We will not go there again.
I had my engagement party at Rusty Pelican 22 years ago. It is our favorite place. Great food and outstanding atmosphere. The best seafood that I can recall eating. Still remains as one of our favorite restaurants to go have a good time.
This was definately the best dinning experience of my life!! I've been to many restaurants, and I've got the gut to prove it, and this restaurant was the best so far. First, the ambience is top of the line. We had patio seats with a view of the harbor at night. The patio had heaters and the waitress also offered us blankets to keep us warm. The service was incredible. Our waitress, Ashley, was so helpful and had good character. My friends loved her! I could not ask for a better and more memorable dinning experience than this one.
Service terrible. Food made my wife and I sick, not kidding. Lobster bisque had that right out of the can taste. Noisy and cramped dining area that looks like an outdated Jolly Roger in desperate need of refurbishment. Left waiter five dollars out of pity after the manager comped our entrees as they left us all sitting a half hour unattended while their spotlight track lighting blinded my son.
