Royal Khyber - OC, Santa Ana

My family of 5 had dinner at this restaurants recently about 4 weeks ago. The service was bad. They did not bring any papaddam which usual for most of the indian restaurants. When we asked, they said you need to order. We ordered vegetarian dishes. They were all plain non-flavourful. Very plain dishes. No spices. Rice was cold. They brought all the vegetables first. And it took some time for them to bring breads. By that time the food was cold. They charge high prices. Not worth the price. We returned disappointed.

This is the best Indian Food I have had on the West Coast. I lived in England for 4 years and they really know how to do Indian and this is the closest I've been able to find in the States. The service was excellent too!

They should change the name to ROYAL CRAP.....one of the worst, highly overpriced restaurants that i have had the misfortune of going to...service is terrible, you literally have to arm wrestle a waiter to serve you, i ordered the tandoori fish, it turned out to be grilled fish with a bit of lemon...no red tandoori masala....they have altered the indian dishes according to the owners whim.....the portions are small , the drinks are overpriced....and if they are having a party, look out, you will be ignored.

My family and I have been going here for years and I had always loved going here. Celebrated many birthdays and is a restaurant with great tradition in Indian cooking. Finally had the time to take a few of my friends to go taste what they have been missing and they ended up sitting other people in front of us because they had a bigger party 12 people instead of sitting of first after we had been waiting there for 10 minutes. I then asked for the manager and complained that we had been waiting and he stated that big groups are always first. I said even if we were waiting and he stated that money first not customer service, you would have done the same if you were the owner. I was turned off by this approach to customer service and will never go back there again. customer service is number one and if you are more worried about profits you will hurt even more without customers, then you will always wonder what happened to your profits. no customers equal no profits!!!!!!!!!!

Zagat recently rated this restaurant as the best Indian Restaurant in Orange County. I had dined at this restaurant many years ago and a unexpected business entertainment opportunity lead me to chose it again. I arrived early without a reservation but was courtesly seated at a very convenient table. The wait staff was excellent and responsive. And, the food was excellent. The curried mussels and the Calamari were delicious. My main course the Lamb Vindaloo was tender and very flavorfull. We had a complementary sweet dessert that was a perfect finish to a wonderful dining experience. I live 60 miles away from this restaurant and will drive that distance to experience such great food again in a few weeks.

While my restaurant reviews are not RSS feeds to Egon Ronay, I am reputed by a number of Indian restaurateurs in Southern California to possess a finer appreciation than most regarding the taste and olfactory subtleties of this ethnic cuisine. The service was teribble, they charge you for bread!!! they even extra charge!!! they charged us about $20.00 for bread which we had no iedea, and didn't even order that much!! Their main dish was terrible, the Rack of Lamb had so much fat and it was so salty,not quality meat either. Their Royale Kebab was also extreemly salty and high fat in their ground beef. This was one of the worst Restaurants that I have been to in recent years. I DO NOT recommond this place at all!!!

Visited three times so far but the last visit service was so bad. No hospitality, not provided options on food choice. Customer service is poor. Restroom was dirty. May be they are having wedding part which is larger group and do not want to serve small group customers. Visited on 04/16/06
