IF YOU DON:T MIND THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY, THIS IS A PLACE TO HAVE SOME GOOD QUALITY FOOD AND SERVICE. SOME FOOD ARE VERY FATTEN SUCH AS LOBSTER SOUP. IT SEEM LIKE THIS CHEF LOVE BUTTER. ALMOST ALL DISHES THAT WE ORDER HAVE BUTTER IN IT. NO WONDER THE CHEF HAS A BIG SPARE TIRE. FOOD PORTION IS LIKE CHILD HAPPY MEAL ( VERY SMALL ) AND VERY EXPENSIVE. NOW I KNOW WHY THE OWNERS HAVE SEVERAL BMW AND MERCEDES.
It one of those places where it is an expensive night out but totally worth the price! Everything from the drinks to dessert is excellent. If you are going to spend the money anyway, do all of the courses.
Start off with a Martini - they are excellent. Their special salad is one of my favorites. The ahi is superb! My favorite entree is the butterfish - the best tasting fish I have ever tasted.
This is a great place for special occasions and their services lives up to a top-notch restaurant!
Don't get me wrong, the food at Roy's is awesome, but the service stinks! We made the mistake of coming in on a Friday night with a reservation and ordering from the Prix Fix menu. I guess that was a tip off to the waiter that his tip was going to be bad, although we would have tipped well. After our entrees, our waiter gave us the dessert drink menu and we did not see him again for over 35 minutes. My husband had to actually get up and go over to him to remind him that still had not gotten our desserts. Ten minutes later the manager came over and tried to offer us two desserts for our wait. Well, I think the waiter could have come over earlier to say that the desserts would be out shortly, sorry for the wait, but that never happened. We were disappointed in the way that Roy's handled this situation and will not return.
We went to Roy's this weekend to celebrate our anniversary. It was the first time there and was great. We made reservations and was seated within 10 mins. The Aunti Lei's Roll was excellent. My girl friend had the Hibachi Salmon which was soft and cooked to perfection. I had the Butter Fish Cod, absolutely wonderful. For drinks, the Lychee Martini is a must. The only part at this resturant is that there is a little up selling. That is expected. The server will recommend fresh dessert from the oven, the Souflee is a must, but there are others on the dessert menu that she did not bring out until after the dessert was ordered. Roys service was great and so was the atmosphere.
We went to Roy's on Maui a couple years ago. We have since been to the one in Palm Springs and this one in Fashion Island. Fashion Island was busy and we didn't have reservations. But we sat in the bar and still had a great meal. Try the poketini.
Make a reservation... The place gets full quick. The staff is wonderful and gracious with all guests.
The mixed drinks are wonderful and mind bending so be careful. The food was awsome. I my taste buds were doing back flips in my mouth. Sushi was fantastic. The sliced hand roll with kobe beef was great.
It prices are almost the same to any other high end (classy) sushi bar.
Roy's represents the best in Fusion cuisine. I have always loved Hawaiian and Japanese food and now Roy's brings the best of both worlds together. Thanks to Roy Yamaguchi for introducing Roy's into my life.
