Just went here the other night for the first time. The place is dirty and was practically empty when we showed up. I now know why...
The lady running this place is just downright RUDE! I don't know if she's the owner, but she provided horrible customer service. She threw our utensils down at the sushi bar in front of us, took our order back from the sushi cook after we had already submitted it then proceeded to make corrections on it, and took forever to bring our other items out. She practically dropped the glass of soda on me when bringing it out.
I had a spicy tuna roll. It looked like mostly chunks of bad sushi. Also had plain sushi and that was definitely not worth the 3.75. The portion was so tiny. My friend had a roll which he said was OK, nothing special.
The sushi chef was overworked and was the only one preparing food for the entire restaurant. The owner kept yelling at him and embarrassing him in front of customers. We really felt bad for him.
Anyone wanting GOOD fresh sushi is better off going to Maki Yaki in Dana Point or Taka-O in SC.
Will definitely NOT be going back to this place. For 37$ worth of sushi, we could've went somewhere else that would've provided us with great service and food that actually tasted good. What a dive.
Ive lived in San Clemente for almost 20 years and this place has been there. I ate there once and it was just whatever. I dunno how this restaurant has survived for so long. In addition, the place is seriously almost never open. At least when I pass by it.
You get a lot of sushi for the price. The sushi pieces themselves were delicious(especially the yellowtail), but the rolls left a little to be desired. The employees were friendly and efficient. Overall, if you were looking for a lunch destination I would recommend Sushi Sono Inc.
