Pescadou Bistro

Description

This restaurant serves French food that everyone can sink their teeth into. The hospitality here is amazing and the decor is warm and inviting, with rich colors and soft materials used. The clientele ranges from the Newport Beach elite to Southern California trendsters. Lobster bisque, Bouillabaisse, sardines in mustard sauce, frog legs, foie gras, rack of lamb and sauteed vegetables are just some of the bistro classics you will find on this menu. Beer and wine are mostly served by the glass.

I was introduced to Pescadou Bistr after my daughter's senior high scool french class had a dinner here as a class outing. She raved about it enough that I took my then current girlfriend ther It was quite good. The place is small quaint without being crowded. Diinner is leisurely with plate onl removed as you wish them to be as a proper restaurant should. Since then I ave taken my family for dinner after said daughter graduated school, for special dates, for special dinners with my two girls, etc. I have never been disappointed by the meals or the service.THe special dinners of say the tour d france are a true treat. THe wine pairings are fantastic. Like a small bit of Europe in oc.

Feels French

A French restaurant that looks and feel like the restaurants I go to when I visit France: Great atmostphere, great food, great wines, and... still affordable.

Absolutely Terrible
By ,
I took my wife and our friends to have dinner at this restaurant a couple of weeks ago and all i can say is that it I was very embarassed because I had no idea the place was going to be that bad. The decorations are nice, but maybe a bit too much concidering the place is very small. There wasnt that many people in the restaurant eating (i can see why now). Our server was nice, but concidering there was only one other table he was very slow! The food on the other hand is a completely different story. I ordered a magret, which I love and order at almost any restaurant that serves it, was overcooked, dry, the sauce absolutely discusting, mash potatoes warm and stiff and green beans that were overcooked. Please dont waste your time here. For the very cheap price of the food, you are going to get very cheap food.

One of my favorite places.
By ,
I have been to Pescadou several times - the food was good each time. The service has always been polite and accommodating. It is like the service you might receive in France - they will not hover and ask you 10 times if everything is ok, and they won't bring the bill until you ask for it). When I was there with some friends before Christmas, the owner / manager treated each of us to a glass of Charente to go with our desserts. What I like about this place is that it is informal, un-snooty, and consistently good. They also have special menus that celebrate the many regions of French cuisine.

I will not go back!
By ,
We came to Pescadou to celebrate our aniversary and found out that the restaurant does not look as good as the web site shows. We ordered bouillabaisse and cassoulet which should be typical French food, however they turned out really bad. I do not recommend this restaurant to my friends.

Terrible service
By ,
This restaurant does not honor reservations and the service is poor. We booked a reservation in October for Christmas Eve (13 persons). When we called to reconfirm on the 23rd, we were asked to come an hour later, which we did. After we arrived, the hostess led us to a table that she had previously said was ours. After some of our party sat down, the owner informed us that she was giving that table to another party that had arrived before us, which was not true. The owner knew that our original reservation was for an hour earlier and that they had asked us to come later but owner made no apology and was very rude, so we left. We had eaten at this restaurant many times, including Christmas Eve last year, and know the food to be good and the prices reasonable but this experience was a disaster.

try another restaurant
By ,
Do yourself a favor and book into another restaurant. The service was awful with food I could not eat - only one bite. I did not want to spoil my wife's birthday dinner, her food was OK, and make a fuss but trust me don't do it. I just returned from France two weeks ago where I could not find a bad meal even in the airport and train stations! They fell short across the board. 07/19/05
