This small restaurant is my favorite in San Clemente. Suzy's review is tells it all... :D I would like to add that this restaurant it great for people who enjoy something different, and like to discuss the meal they are eating.
It's also a great place to take a date... cozy and non-pretentious... and definitely not cheap. : / I wish I could afford to eat here more often.
This quaint and warm little jewel of a restaurant shines amongst the backdrop of OC's usual steak and seafood grill menus. Cuisine fuses and reappears pristine as you cross from Morocco to Syria via Italy and Greece. Brilliant renditions of better known ethnic dishes such as falafal, tabouleh salad, and tangines pepper the menu. The broths are homemade, the sauces are handmade, and all the ingredients are freshly sourced from surrounding markets, often focusing on seasonal ingredients. The menu continues to delight as weekly specials rotate through the chef/owner's fancy with standouts such as beef osso bucco in a moroccan spiced reduction. Go off the beaten path with items such as elk, venison, or bison. And do not stop there, the desserts are all made in house and rival any pastry chef lineup out there. Gingersnap marscarpone cheesecake is unbelievable, along with Tortes, and flourless chocolate cake. Try not to lick your plate after each course, but it wouldn't be frowned upon here!
