I've been to many sushi restaurant and nothing compares to japan, but this is doing it right, if you don't get it, it's because you're obtuse.... hahahaha, it's not so much sushi, but sashimi dishes AWESOME
friends swear by it. I don't get it. but I only had it once (it was THAT bad), and on a Friday night, too. I suggest going out of town for sushi (Laguna Sushi is the WORST, Happy Sushi can blow me, and San Shi Go just doesn't hit right consistently--and I've tried these all many times) -- so travel North of Laguna to Blue Fin (in the Trader Joes shopping center south of Crystal Cove) or go down to Dana Point for Gen Kai
We looooooooooove Fusion. The fish is so fresh and the chef creates some awesome rolls and presents them well. The only con is that Fusion is tiny, so seating is limited. And has a cute little sushi bar. If you're planning on a family dinner, show up early to get seating. If you end up waiting, it's worth the wait!
