Cafe Zoolu, Laguna Beach

Amazing awesome! Our first time there we had the scallops (the best) and ahi tar tar with a nice cab at the bar. The staff was friendly and the locals were great to chat with. We went again the next day and had the ono and famous swordfish. Nothing but great food. Amazing awesome!

It is a little pricey but that is justified by the nice portion size that is served and the excellent taste of the food. We had the sowrdfish sampler (blackend, macadamia nuts, lemon capers). All flavors were delicious. I give the edge to the blackend thought, then macadamia nuts and lemon capers. I will definitely go back there sometime. The service was also good.

Local who has eaten here 6 times and only ever had ONE DISH the SWORDFISH. If you eat anything else the first time you come, you are crazy. This restaurant exists, does well (very well) because of the swordfish. Owner cook brother man knows where to get the fish and knows how to cook it. Swordfish is extremely difficult to do right. I NEVER ORDER IT ANYWHERE ELSE (except, maybe, Harbor Grill in Dana Point Harbor). but here at Zoolu, it's all about ths Swordfish

Wow! Incredible restaurant. Eleven of us jammed into this little gem and had the best meal we've eaten in years. I hate calamari but Zoolu's is great! Had steak, lobster, and the best swordfish ever. Service is over the top, order everything served famly style so you can sample as much as you can from their menu. Portions are huge, everything was hot and cooked perfectly. Go there!!!!!!

With only a few tables and seating at the bar (where you can watch the owner/chef dish up the best food in Orange County) Cafe Zoolu's is small. But, get ready for the best food and HUGE servings. The swordfish is great, but the filet mignon literally melts in your mouth and the horseradish mashed potatoes will satisfy even the hungriest of diners. No matter what you order here you can't go wrong. My husband and I have eaten here several times and can safely say there is not a bad dish on the menu. We have lived in Orange County for over 30 years and this is our favorite restaurant. We give our kids gift certificates at Christmas time and it is the one gift they look forward to receiving. Great food, great ambiance and VERY reasonable prices. Reservations are a must!

Cafe Zoolu is a diamond in the rough, a small resteraunt with a very large taste. Zoolu's specialty, swordfish, is a must for first timers. With its great service, ambience, and (extremely great) food; you are sure to have a great night. Watch out for wait though, it's almost impossible to try a walk-in on almost any night; a reservation a couple days before-hand is your best bet.

The food is awesome, my wife loves the comboy steak, but you HAVE to eat the swordfish, try the swordfish sampler, and next time order the flavor you liked best. Smaller place, but the food is what you will be talking about.

I have never had a pork chop this good! The mashed sweet potatoes are fabulous. Even the veggies were unusually tasty. The meat loaf is really, really good too. Be sure you are hungry the portions are huge!

Pretty cool place, if you want to relax with some friends.
