I was visiting my brother who lives in Irvine having been disappointed with anything called Mexican food in Orange County my brother suggested Javier's. Its suppose to be the closest thing to good Mexican food around.
At first glance the place looks beautiful, great view, its a very nice set up and the inside is nice as well. However, if you are not snobby, rich and arrive in a limo the service is less than favorable. Mostly it appeared to be a bunch of tight ass snobs there to be cultured if you will in Mexican food.
We did have to wait in the lobby for about 20 mins and the waitress was just as snobby as the other customers. She was short and rude couldn't be bothered to say more than 2 words and she refused to bring my 5 yr old a drink as she was a COCKTAIL waitress they don't serve kids. Then my brother asked for a Mojito and her attitude was horrible she did her best wanna e rich girl attitude and said uh yeah funny we don't serve those here. It was amazing how she tried to belittle us in the short time we'd been there.
Then we finally get seated the waiter is just as snobby and when I order an egg with my enchiladas as real mexicans eat he lectured me on the restaurant not serving eggs except for breakfast on Sundays at whatever time and they only serve what is on the menu. At this point I've had it with the I'm better than you attitude yet I managed to get through my meal which was sub par to say the least. This is not really mexican food. It has no taste! The red chili tasted like tomato sauce and the beans as if they were from a can.
I would not recommend this place to anyone, save the money and go to taco bell.
For more than 10 years we have been eating their food and they are far better than el torito, baja fresh, pollo loco, and any cheap ass franchise. The service and food is good, I don't know why some of you complain maybe because you treat they workers like trash and don't leave good tips. All I know that we will never go to crystal cove because there are too much blancos there.
HOLD ON TO YOUR PLATES & DRINKS AT THIS SPOT! Great food, but pushy staff. They are definitely in a big hurry to get you in and out. The food was amazing, but they were trying to grab our drinks and food before we were finished with them.
If it wasn't for the rude customers, I'd be giving this a 5. I've been going since the day they opened (literally on opening day). I'm a fan 1st of the location, 2nd of the food and 3rd of the affordable prices. If you are single and looking to hook up with rich plastic men and women...this is your place after 7 any day of the week. If you want to enjoy the restaurant sans hormones and over-entitled attitudes...make a reservation no later than 6PM. The food is excellent, salsa is hot and the view just can't be beat. Check out the Chipotle Cream Chicken or Pork for a more sophisticated entre. Or for a more traditional meal check out la tablita. A great platter full of your choice of chicken, steak and shrimp. (I like the steak and chicken...both amazing) Side of pico, guac, jalapenos, cebolitas (grilled scallions), grilled onion/peppers, rice, beans and corn/flour tortillas. Amazing!! I also recommend the green salad...thier house (ranch) is the best I've ever had.
I Love Javier's in Crystal Cove!!! The atmosphere, the people, the staff and especially the food. If you want to come have a relaxing lunch during the week, with a view(breath taking on a clear sunny day), you should come here. It is a little more busy during the weekend, but what do you expect. It is a happenin' place.
Their Pollo Asado is healthy and delicious. It comes with a chile stuffed with cheese, guacamole and And when you order a Margarita, order the Organic Margarita it's a little more expensive than a regular margarita, but well worth it. Come enjoy great food and hang out with friends. I RECOMMEND IT!
Poor service, poor food - nice building.
Save yourself the heartache and go when it's empty and you're not hungry - so you can check out the building.
Their hostesses are snooty and rude - by far the worst in OC. Our reservation was not honored leaving my party of 8 with a 1.5 hr wait.
With so many GREAT restaurants in Crystal Cove thankfully I'll never have to go back.
Avoid this place.
This is my last time at new location. After a third try - I am done.
Margaritas were as tasty as cup of sweat - bitter. The server - Orlando - had a major attitude, like he was doing me a favor. Food was OK, but how can one screw up a salad.
They have the location and they know that there are very few restaurants on the coast that can match their views.
The rest does not matter to them.
Do not waste your time.
I was a regular at Laguna and Irvine, but not anymore....
They just lost me and my refferals..................
