Eating at the White House
The best thing about this restaurant is it's food. Some people are willing to put up with circling the blocks many times to get a metered parking spot just to eat at this restaurant. Others are willing to eat in a place that can't seem to afford bright lights - the ambience is rather dark, except for the bar that you can see thru the glass windows. There are people who like to drink martinis at 1pm. My friend and I were old enough to go and do that, be we opted to eat some solid food for lunch. Naturally, we each ordered our own entree, only to find that one menu item could feed 3, not 1. So, if you decide to eat in this place, be prepared to march out of there with loads of styrofoam boxes (and you most likely will, cuz the food is so good you'll want to take it with you). I ordered a cheesesteak sandwhich, which turned out to be quadruple the size of the Subway kind. Footlong. My friend got penne pasta, which was beautifuly decorated with strips of grilled chicken arranged in a shell-like pattern. Service there was snail pace - my friend had to go walk back to the meter to feed IT even just after our order was taken! I'd eat at this place again - but in the future, get there early so you can battle over a parking space that's 3 blocks away instead of 4, go on a bright sunny day so you can actually appreciate the colors of your food. At any rate, even if it turns out to not be the kind of experience you expected, there's always the beach which is just a mere walk across the street.
