Maggiano's - Italian Catering & Restaurant, Costa Mesa

Maggianos is looked upon as a high class restaurant because many people think it's just another Olive Garden. Believe me it's not, Olive Garden is a five star resturant, Maggianos is not even half of one. When I went the service was bad and what I ordered was not even worth the cost. I ordered Chicken Alfredo which looked more like a soup because the sauce was watery. The bread is hard and it has very little flavor to it, which is not good at all. The bread should at least be the best thing before starting a meal. I will never go to Maggianos again and the people that I know, will not as well.

Ask for Martin he will serve you the best Martini you ever had! Price is a little high, but hey, if you want great food you have to pay for it. Want something cheap? Go to In-n-out, and good luck saving.

I really loved this restaurant. Outstanding.

I like that they give you oil instead of butter with your bread because, you won't use as much. The building is large and very cute. The food is excellent, we ordered stuffed mushrooms to start then spagetti with meatballs and sausage. I felt stuffed as a tick and was unable to have dessert! There's always next time. This is my new favorite italian restaurant forever!!

Great atmosphere, good italian music, and great italian meals, homestyle if you like. Make sure you come hungry!

Maggiano's has pretty good food although it's not so spectacular that's it is worth dealing with the usual mob scene they have after 6:00p.m. Your best bet is to make reservations and be sure to come here for a special occasion as meals are not cheap. Whatever you do, do not leave without ordering their creme brulee. It is the best creme brulee I have had at any restaurant!

I booked a reservation for last evening via opentable.com. This was my 3rd choice, the 1st and 2nd choices both had the courtesy of not accepting a reservation for a time slot they couldn't deliver. We arrived 20 minutes prior to our reserved time, and the hostess advised they were running about 20 minutes behind the reservation schedule. When we reported back 30 minutes past our reserved time, I waited behind another patron complaining about waiting with a reservation. The hostess told him to stand there by the desk and he would move to the top of the WAITING RESERVATION LIST. She also told him that they had been seating patrons as they came in - including walkins as they came in, and that is why they were running behind. I asked to speak to the manager and advised him of my situation and the conversation I had just overheard. We were immediately seated, then waited 40 minutes after ordering to recieve our food, which was mediocore at best. I have dined at 2 other Maggiano's locations on a number of occasions, and had good to fair service and food. After last night, I will not dine at any location again. If you want to eat here, my advice is that you do not waste your time making a reservation or expect your food to be delivered in a reasonable timeframe. On a 5 star scale, I would give this facility a single star, and that only because the server was friendly and enthusiastic.
