great sushi!: I've eaten at Tomikawa's at least 10 times this year already. The sushi bar is excellent, check out the spider rolls or the crunch rolls. the seafood udon is great also. Sometimes there is a communication problem (some of the hostesses don't speak the greatest english) over the phone on to-go orders, but if you are patient, (it helps to know what you want) they'll get it right.
I am so sad and DISSAPOINTED. I will never ever go to Tomikawa again. Jason the Sushi chef was a complete A.. Hole. I have been eating sushi for over 25 years at over 60 places around LA and OC and never have I been treated this way. IDK Maybe they hate WHITE PEOPLE. They pretend not to speak good englishso they can charge whatever they want, FYI I spent $34 on 3 Crunch hand rolls with spicy scallop on top. Thats just wrong. The fact they stand there and speak Fuc.... Japaneese in front of us and don't interact with us is bullsh..
Manager was VERY RUDE. Be careful if you're using a coupon! He didn't honor the coupon on the bill and tried to convince us he did. He argued with us while standing at the cash register and punched in random numbers on his calculator. When he finally realized his mistake, he didn't apologize and just shoved us the bill. He made no eye contact and ignored us when we gave him money for the meal. The waiters/waitresses were nice but the manager was unbelievably rude and makes the restaurant not worth going to. Would give 0 stars if I had the option.
I've ate in tomikawa many times. I have to admit, the food is tasty. Their sashimis are usually nice, but sometimes i dont understand why they cut their sashimis in rectangular blocks instead of fine strips of sashimis.
anyway, the reason y i gave them a 1 star is because of their pathetic service. don't even bother asking the waitress for something small like an extra chopsticks cause it's going to come out after your party finishes eating. and to top it all of, their pricing are a little high for a restaurant with a service like that.
i would personally not recommend this place. the only reason why i come back is because it is close to my house and they have decent food.
