Taiko Japanese Restaurant, Irvine

I've been going to Taiko for about thirty years and it never lets me down. We always order the number one or the number two. Its teriaki chicken or beef and tempura shrimp and veggies. The salad dressing is to die for and the service is always great. I look forward to having a great meal there soon.

Great disappointment. A lot of people recommended this place to us but when we went in after 40 minutes wait, we thought the restaurant is over-rated. The food is so-so and the service was too hurry. I had better sushi in New Jersey and New York.

mm....side of the combo is good. Food is ok. Sashimi is fresh and that's it!! If you just come by, you can try it. However, this restaurant is not deserve you drive far just for it.

There is a reason this place is so popular - the sushi is the best around. It's a GOOD thing when you can't see the rice underneath! The wait can be very long so get there early. The service is normal - not outstanding but not bad either. You go here for the sushi - plain and simple. The rest of the food is good too but this place is known for it's sushi. Anyone who gives this the FOOD here a bad review really doesn't understand sushi - let alone Japanese food. The only negative, is the wait - and there is a wait for a reason. If you're in the mood for teriyaki or tempura - you'll be best off going someplace else. If you are looking for outstanding sushi, this is the place to visit.

We love it. The sushi is excellent and the atmosphere is nice. The area that it is in has many great places. Great family restaurant. We have been coming here for over thirteen years. The quality of the food and portions are extremely genorous. As a family of 6 we have sampled sushi restaurants from east coast to west coast and have not yet found a restaurant better then Taiko. but the host still treats us like he doesn't know us even though we have been going there for over a decade and at least once a month.

Okay, the wait is long and there isn't any reservations, but hey I always believe in first come first serve rule. I'm a crazy sashimi lover and been around a lot of places in OC, SD and LA, believe me nothing comes close to the freshness or the quality of their fish or shrimp. You don't go to Japanese restaurants to eat rolls or fried stuff, that's for American's who says they love sushi but never eat raw fish. I mean if fried fish or shrimp is what you like just go to a American seafood restaurant. Alright, the host is the co-owner and of course he seems rude, because he has someone asking him every second how long it'll take for them to be seated. Look around, there are a few people standing around that's probably ahead of you. Well, enough of that, if you like fish and shirmp, this is the place to be, oh and try their Jambo Shirmp you can have anything stuff in there.

I love the sushi here...but the HOST and the servers are rude....i hate calling in my order to go, cause most of the time they turn me down...I've NEVER known a resturaunt to TURN DOWN orders..I AGREE with the other review...The Host acts like he is doing us a favor by taking my order or seating me.... i was wondering is the Host the owner??????I dont think taiko employees appreciate the business...I WISH i could find another sushi place i like so i can stop going there and get an ungreatful attititude by them!!!!
