This use to be my favorite place for pizza and pasta. They had the best homemade pizza crust and the best sauces with plenty of flavor and garlic.
Now it is under new ownership and I'm am completely disappointed. The food is bland with no flavor. The sauce tasted as if there was no seasoning in it whatsoever. The pizza dough tastes as if it is the prepackaged frozen generic brand! Pietro's was known for their pizza sauce and crust. Did they not give the new owners the recipe! I feel as if the new owners are cutting costs and not using the high quality ingredients the recipes use to have. I have been going to Pietro's for over 20 years. I don't think I'll be going back.
Pietro's used to be the standard by which all pizzas were judged. It was the best pizza I had ever eaten. When we moved to Hemet we would return to Riverside, just for the Pizza. Then it was sold. The new owners did not remain true to the original. The crust used to be thick and chewy, while still thick is is not at all chewey, but bready. The toppings are not as fresh and the quality is just not there. We continued to try it for awhile, hoping they would return to the original recipe, but we have since given up hope.
The Best Pizza anywhere. Where else can you get a delicious Gigantic Family size pizza with the works for around 23 bucks? It's delicious, it's huge, and can easily feed 6-8 people.
Now if you'd rather enjoy some great Italian Cuisine and ambiance, then Pietro's is the only choice in Riverside as far as I am concerned.
I have been a customer for just about 30 years. It's was the best when I was 5 or 6, and continues to be the very best I've ever had to date!
Perhaps the best Italian restaurant in Riverside. The pizza is amazing. It makes Pizza Hut food taste like a mockery of culinary art (which it is). The lasagna is also very good. Lunch prices are a steal.
A note about the service...I get frustrated with customers who complain the food wasn't served quickly enough. If you want a quick meal, go to a fast food place. This is slow food, cooked from scratch, cooked to perfection. We're lucky to have a place like this in Riverside, so make time for it if you go.
Very good pizza... While I'd say that I've had better pizza, this is about as good as you will find in Riverside. But, there's a catch. I would give it 5 stars if they weren't painfully slow. It's a bit pricey for pizza, but definitely worth it (you get what you pay for). My only other recommendation would be to order their pizza for pick up, because if you sit down, it's going to be quite some time before your pizza comes to the table. Last time I was in there, there was only one other occupied table, and yet it took over 45 minutes for the food to come.
I started going to Pietro's back in 1980. I can tell you it is nothing like it was back then. The pizza back then was scrumptous with an italian cheese. Good cuts of meat etc. the place was owned by a local family. Their kids went to the same school I did. They then opened up one off of Pierce street. That was just recently sold to someone else who will be the 3rd owner.
Upon arriving back in riverside this year i went to pietro. I was horrified. I asked for canadian bacon and got ham instead. Pizza was a mess. Sad when the original owners left the pizza went with them.
