What a disappointment! A small group of us had New Years Eve dinner there and it was simply awful... service was extremely spotty - food utterly unremarkable; overwrought, complicated, too-fancy and trying too hard - the wait between courses was interminable. We began with a watery tomato bisque soup, followed by a giant burned crunchy South African prawn - I had an endive salad with a too-tangy vinagrette dressing... the main entree was a steak that was served tepid... the cost for this culinary debacle was $100/person... and after adding in the mandatory 20% gratuity (not disclosed at the time of our reservation) and the alcohol, the bill was nearly $1000. For six people to have dinner at $1000, it should have been an EXTRAORDINARY experience. Unfortunately, it was not. What a shame, because this restaurant enjoys a great reputation and my previous experiences have been positive but after last Monday night's dinner, it will be a long time before I return. Check the menu carefully - and insist on resposive, helpful and consistent wait staff -- all lacking New Years' Eve. My god for $1000 the dinners we could have had elsewhere! What a complete waste of money.
