Melvyn's Restaurant, Palm Springs

I've gone to Melvyn's many times over the last 15 years or so. I agree with other reviewers that this once outstanding restaurant and bar have slipped. For one, the fixed price menu has increased from $25 to $30, and is not longer as good. We made the mistake of reserving a table for 4 at the first seating on New Year's Eve: HUGELY overpriced, and they were obviously eager to have us gone in time for the later seating. All in all, I'd recommend, as have others, that people limit their time to Sunday afternoons in the enchanting bar area, where the live music with local talent is almost always over-the-top good.

Cold staff, bad music. A restaurant that was good 25 years ago is now rotten.

GREAT UPPER CLASS LOUNGE GREAT DRINKS AND MUSIC.PIANO BAR SINGER HAD A VARIETY OF MUSIC GREAT FOR DANCING. A LITTLE HARD TO FIND BUT WELL WORTH IT.

We have been to PS every year since 1975 when Melvin's opened. It wouldn't be possible to visit PS and not go to Melvin's as many times as possible! It is fabulous in every way! We are heading there next week and cannot wait to see Melvyn, Brian, and everyone at the Ingleside Inn!

11/5/06 service from 1 barmaid to the next . 1st barhostess very good 2nd barhostess ripped us off for 10 dollars in our change we were very dissapointed. we would have left her a tip anyway she didnt need to help herself . it was our first visit to this bar

The service was great!! My family and I were treated like royalty. I was so pleased, I will reccomend this restaurant to anyone who is going to Palm Springs. It is well worth it. The prices are fair, I didn't feel rushed or obligated to eat or drink anything i didn't want. Please go there you will love it. The food is good:) I ordered the filet, but try the steak diane, it is made tableside, and it smelled delicious. The JUMBO shrimp was excellent too!!! The overall experience was awesome for my family and I, It was superb!!! love amy:))

My friends and family have been going to Melvyn's for over 30 years! Brian, the maitre'd, has been there taking care of us all these years. The Sunday champagne brunches are the best -just take a cab there and home! Enjoy a drink on the lawn around the pool - you'll think you're back in the Hollywood era. Jack in San Francisco
