Original Las Casuelas
I had the grilled chicken/avocado salad. It was one of the worst salads I ve had (ever). One expects a grilled meat salad to have fresh grilled meat. The chicken had been grilled a day or two earlier (actually, it could have been a week) and it was cold, refrigerator cold. The salad contained that disappointing meat, plus ~1/4 of an sliced avocado (the avocado was ok) on a large bed of lettuce, but literally nothing else to make the salad interesting or flavorful - no cheese, no spices, no nuts, no fruit, nothing else. It was plain, boring and tasteless. The mango bacon dressing was even worse. First of all, I was given a very small amount ~1 (one) tablespoon (I asked for and received more, but one should not have to do that). The mango bacon dressing did not taste at all like mango (more like a cheap tropical fruit chewing gum) with zero bacon flavor. It was terrible. That salad should be deleted from the menu. Whoever designed that salad knows nothing about salads or salad dressings. Finally, the service was very good - no complaints there.

ok...I am a PS local for several years and lived in Texas prior for 20 years.....I know good Mexican food. Suprisingly, Southern California in general lacks good Tex- Mex style of Mexican food......you are usually stuck with Fish Tacos and Baja cuisine. If Baja is not your deal, then you will like this place.....standard fare, but Rellenos, enchiladas, etc. are pretty good. Margaritas are some of the best in town (Maracas is good margs as well). In season it is touristy and the band outside rates a 5 out of 10....but it is a fun Jimmy Buffet kind of vibe. If you are visiting from out of town, hit it up once and if your local you have probably been there done that.

Forget Las Casuelas on Palm Canyon. Total tourist trap. Just do a 180 and look on the other side of the street and you'll find Maracas. (Right next to the Sonny Bono fountain in El Mercado plaza.) Extremely good, great outside seating and super margaritas.

I must say that being a Hispanic from El Paso Texas, I was not impressed with the food. The ambience was nice at about six in the afternoon but my party was seated in a cubby hole with no way to get the wait personel's attention. Before we were finished with our meal, the bus boy kept trying to remove our dishes with food still on them.

I love Las Casuelas and have been going to the original since I was little. If you are looking for live music and more of a night life, go to the one downtown near all the popular shops, music and bar and always great.

I remember when you could go into Las Casuelas and you would see the owner, Mr. Delgado bussing tables. The food was great then, but now it is a tourist trap, as are all the other Las Casuelas's. I recommend La Tablita in Cat City or Mexicali Cafe in Indio for some real, delicious Mexican food. Like Las Casuelas was 35 years ago.

Best time on the Palm Springs Strip

Every time I have gone to Las Casuelas, it has been a good experience. I wish it weren't such a popular place, given the lines that wait for seating – but ah the success of good food, drinks and service. (A little light in the food service quality, but everything else good.) Had the Mango Margaritas which are fun and definitely if you can wait for a table near the street, it's a far cry from just eating inside. Feels more festive. Try it – you'll enjoy it!! We did.

This is the Las Casuelas to go to!

Don't bother with the Las Casuelas Quinta! Their food was horrible! I can't believe they're even using the same recipes. Stick with Terraza - the Original. Food is great, service is friendly and ambiance is the best!
