Lorna's Italian Kitchen, San Diego

Love, love, love this place and the food and BTW, I m Italian. Celebrated our anniversary quietly sitting outside watching the Blue Angels fly over. The wait staff is professional and efficient and the patio furniture is very nice with tablecloth and heaters for winter dining! Very nice! I don t know why these other reviews aren t good, but we ve been eating at Lorna s for 10 years and I always have a pleasant experience! Sometimes people are just waiting for an excuse to slam a restaurant. If you don t like it, don t go back. There are plenty of loyal customers that will take your table!

STAFF IS INCREDIBLY RUDE. FROM THE HOST TO THE WAITERS TO THE MANAGEMENT. RUDENESS THRU-OUT. I've tried several times over the years to patronize this small (cramped) neighborhood restaurant and have always left disappointed. There are so many well run Italian restaurants in San Diego, this is NOT one of them. Don't waste your time or money with Lorna's

Been there several times, but not happy with the latest service we were there. We did not get any eye contact from the waiter since the minute we sat down. The worst part was when he handed me the check. His eyes were setting on somewhere else. How rude was that! The Amigo bus boy greeted us, served us more and was more friendlier than the waiter. I was so eager not to leave any tips for the waiter, instead giving the bus boy what he should get. Food was still good, only the service was not as good as before. Mr. White guy waiter, you really did not deserve my tips. Hope you get to read this review someday.

Nothing fancy, just what I'd envision a nice, clean little Italian family restaurant with excellent food values to be. Everytime I get there, I'd order whatever is the seafood special and always enjoy it. Like one reviewer says, Never a dud in the menu. On a nice San Diego day, sit outside.

Lorna's is the perfect place for dinner with a group of friends or with family. The best Italian Food I've ever had and I work at the Olive Garden!

Best Italian food in the area. I'm sure you could go downtown, pay 3 times as much and find food this good, but why? It is a bit of a hole in the wall, somewhat crowded and noisy, so maybe not the best place for a first date. But, if you want awesome food at a great price in an ultra-casual atmosphere with great service, this is the place. Plan on waiting a little while for your food because they really are making it to order, but they'll keep the bread coming until it gets there. They do a bang up take-out business as well.

I've been living in La Jolla for about a year now and I love to eat out. I used to go to the Vons nearby and saw Lorna's as I drove past but never stopped to try it out..after searching on Yahoo and found out about Lorna's, me and my girlfriend stopped by and tried it out..and we sure glad we did..although the service is a just a little slower than we would've liked, but most likely because it was busy. But the food was delicious. My girlfriend had a carbonara pasta and i got a calzone. It did not disappoint..It's a great place to eat with friends or bring your family because the food is excellent and the prices are very good. I will be back..and more than just once.

The salads and pasta were outstanding! The sauces they use are filled with flavor that you don't find at many italian restaurants. The portions are huge, making the cost worth it! I love this place and order out ffrequently!

Hidden in a small University City Von's shopping center is a truly wonderful little Italian restaurant that clearly ranks with the best in the county. You can go to La Jolla, Del Mar or anywhere up or down the coast and be hard pressed to match this gem. If you haven't eaten there yet you owe it to yourself. You wont be disappointed. I don't think there is a dud on the menu. My 17 year old son joined us one evening before a game when he was not in the mood for Italian. He ordered a chicken pizza and became became an instant believer. He says its the best pizza he's ever had. I wont go through the menu with you, you can ask the waiters. They are very helpful without being bothersome. I would suggest you try switching to angel hair pasta from the regular offering but thats just a personal preference. You wont be disappointed. in any event. Prices are not cheap but are definitely fair.
