An Evening at Cafe Luna has best been described as "A Celestial Dining Experience" Each and every item on our menu, including our savory nightly specials, are hand-crafted to order with you, our guest, in mind. According to owner, Susan Haywood, "Our word-of-mouth reputation brings in new customers but it's the food that keeps them coming back." Cafe Luna was named "San Diego's Best Kept Secret" from San Diego Home & Garden readers. In addition Cafe Luna has been awarded 1st place for "Best Italian Food" on the channel 10 A-List. Some of Cafe Luna's signature dishes are our Tornadoes Gorgonzola, our Fusilli Umbriaco and our highly requested Rosetta - a homemade pasta sheet rolled with ham and Swiss cheese that's sliced and baked with a Parmesan cream sauce. In addition to exceptional food & service, Cafe Luna also has an extensive wine list. The atmosphere is romantic yet comfortable. We also offer off site catering, ask for our General Manager, Jamie Wimmer.

Magnificent daily specials!

We absolutely fell in love with Cafe Luna from the first visit! We have yet to order from the menu, because the daily specials are absolutely fabulous! Wonderful combinations of flavors, and always beautiful presentation. The waiters do an excellent job of describing the specials... they have our mouths watering before we even get to hear the special dessert of the day! The atmosphere is very cozy/romantic, and they make you feel like you are a very special old friend. A wonderful experience!!!

Always my favorite!

A hidden treasure! In a strip mall, next to a Irish pub and dry cleaners, yet once you walk in... WOW! I love their food, service and ambiance! Make reservations, cuz it can get crowded! I've been back numerous times, and always have been more than satisfied!

Excellent Food

My wife and I have have been here about 6 times this year and found the food and service to excellent. The salads are always fresh and the pasta and meat dishes are always the best!

Talk about San Diego's best kept secret!

My domestic partner took me there for my very first time and I was impressed from the way the folks treated us to the artistic decor; truly impressive. Don't let the outside appearance fool you. My bo had the the fillet mingon and I had the two pasta plate I could not help but snatch a taste or two from his plate, we both finished off by sharing a delicious tiramisu. Great overall experience, too bad there isn't anything close to this culinary experience in Hillcrest, I'll make that drive regardless.

Food not worth the prices

Five of us had lunch on a Friday at Cafe Luna. The people who served us were wonderful, but I've had better food there in the past. The filet mignon was thin and nothing special. The sauce was not tasty like a demi glace should be - this sauce was rather bland. My friends order the crusted halibut and found the center was very rare - they sent it back for further cooking. All in all, at those prices, I expected better food.

Worth every penny, for any special occasion

We have been here several times. Unlike other restaurants where the actual taste and quality of the food varies between visits, the quality remains constant. The chef has come out on several occasion to deliver the food to our tables. A nice touch!

I love the place and conduct many business dinners at Cafe Luna. Great wine list, great specials. The specials are so good that I rarely order from the menu.
