Description

An Evening at Cafe Luna has best been described as "A Celestial Dining Experience" Each and every item on our menu, including our savory nightly specials, are hand-crafted to order with you, our guest, in mind. According to owner, Susan Haywood, "Our word-of-mouth reputation brings in new customers but it's the food that keeps them coming back." Cafe Luna was named "San Diego's Best Kept Secret" from San Diego Home & Garden readers. In addition Cafe Luna has been awarded 1st place for "Best Italian Food" on the channel 10 A-List. Some of Cafe Luna's signature dishes are our Tornadoes Gorgonzola, our Fusilli Umbriaco and our highly requested Rosetta - a homemade pasta sheet rolled with ham and Swiss cheese that's sliced and baked with a Parmesan cream sauce. In addition to exceptional food & service, Cafe Luna also has an extensive wine list. The atmosphere is romantic yet comfortable. We also offer off site catering, ask for our General Manager, Jamie Wimmer.

The atmosphere is quaint, intimate and memorable. Reservations are usually a must as seating is limited. The food and service is exceptional and worth any wait.

All I need to say is WOW

This is the most amazing restaurant. The atmosphere, the food and the service is the best around. You'll never want to dine at another italian restaurant again. The owner actually came to see how everything was. What a first class place! Count me in as a life long guest of Cafe Luna.

Always a recommendation
By ,
It's a quaint and quiet setting with a formal yet family-owned feel. The meals are large and moderately priced. The location isn't the most eye appealing, but the inside ambiance makes up plenty.

San Diego's best Italian food
By ,
Located in a quiet corner of a small strip mall lies North County's best kept secret, Caf Luna, home to the finest Italian food in the San Diego area. You know you're truly one of the locals once you discover the place. I had to live in the neighbourhood for over a year before I did. Inside the nondescript stip mall faade you'll find a warm, intimate setting for the perfect romantic dinner with that special someone. The food is always excellent and the service friendly. Be prepared for a long list of daily specials, which your server will have memorized. A truly impressive feat in itself! Ordering your main course will be easy, though, because you can safely pick anything. It will be fabulous. While you are waiting for your food, be sure to try the red dipping sauce that is served with the warm focaccia bread. It is to die for. If the restaurant has a weak point it is the uninspired dessert selection. I particularly dislike Caf Luna's take on the Italian classic Tiramisu. However, this is a forgivable flaw in an otherwise perfect dining experience. I don't hesitate at all to give the place four and a half stars. So, if you find yourself in San Diego with a little bit of time to spare, Caf Luna is definitely worth a trip to North County.

I have never been treated more rudely by a Hostess
By ,
I loved this restaurant and brought many business colleagues there. However, I had a very bad experience when I brought a good friend there for dinner. The hostess (I later found out she was the owner) walked right past me (not even a greeting) when I entered to greet the couple behind our party -- a group she seemed to know. She completely ignored us and sat the other party at a table, talked for a few minutes or so and finally acknowledged us in a gruff manner. I was completely embarassed and apologized to my guest. When I commented on the fact that we were there and ignored, she basically said that it was my problem and that she had done nothing wrong. To make matters worse, she did this in a loud voice that could be heard by nearby guests. In the hospitality industry I think it is reasonable to expect hospitality. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this restaurant and have begun bringing business associates to other nearby restaurants that offer quality food AND a more positive environment.

In a strip mall, but what a great place
By ,
This is in a strip mall right across the street from a Carls junior, and a BevMo. So it was a little questionable on bringing a first date here, but once inside, completely different, great food, great service, great time. Thanks
