Akai Hana

Description

With one wall of this restaurant devoted entirely to a sushi bar, it has become a favorite sushi house to San Diego locals. Customers range in ages and occupations, yet most are regulars who frequently visit this establishment. A variety of sushi options top the menu, but other choices are available. For those not devoted to sushi, the Teriyaki Chicken and Fried Tofu are popular dishes. The more daring patrons may want to try the mushroom served with radish or vegetable tempura.

It shoulld not be called GREAT!
By Yahoo user, 7/21/05
Read most of the great reviews for this restaurant from this site and decided to check out this restaurant. I did not aware the restaurant colsed at Sunday so I actually make two trips for the food. The Sushi is ok fresh, not fresh fresh. Quality of the fish is average and not great. The Sushi rice is poor in quality. The chef shold know the quality of the sushi rice is as importnat as the fresh fish, otherwise why we call it sushi and not sashimi over rice?

The Best! Mmmmmm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/10/06
This is absolutely the best Sushi in the San Diego area. We're talking fresh! We're talking good! We're talking the closest thing to actually being in Japan, where bad Sushi bars do not survive.

Wonderful dining experience
By Susan, 7/9/06
It's a little pricey, but the experience is completely worth it. I bring everyone here - friends, business associates. The food is very good, very nicely presented. The ambiance of the restaurant is very pleasant, and the service is nearly always impeccable. I usually end up there 2-4 times a month.

MMMM Good.
By Gaile and Michael, 11/21/05
This is the best Japanese restaurant that I have been to in San Diego. Everything is very fresh. They even have delicious sushi to accomodate the faint of heart (in case you want to bring your in-laws). The prices may be a little on the high side, but they make up for it in flavor and quantity. You will not go away hungry.

Turned away from the Sushi Bar
By Soren, 4/7/06
Great Albacor. But why did they reseat me from the sushi bar to the resturant once I wanted some Soba? No waitress service at the bar? This would be a first in my 15 years of eating sushi in California. A strange relationship between the resturant and the sushi bar, but good food, and I was served well once I moved to a table.

Always freshest fish, always busy which speaks to popularity and consistent quality.
