Harry's Bar & American Grill, San Diego

This is bad. 4 of us went there 9/28/11. we arrived with reservations for 6:30PM. Sat at our table until 7:15 and finally waved down a waiter for service. The Hostess came by and asked what would we like to drink before ordering our meal and then diappeared only to have a waiter return and ask the same questions 10 minutes later. There were 2 private parties that obviously were more important then the dining patrons so they were catered to first(or perhaps the service was understaff.) Order our meals at 7:45 (1:15 after arriving) and received our $75.00 entrees per couple after 8 which is OK but the food was barely warm althought the dishes were very HOT?? Sent the meal back to be heated and after a quick nook in the microwave they came back hot. Sad. The waiter was good and tried to keep an upbeat after finally being assigned to our table. Had to look around to see if it was only us but found several patrons were waiting for service. Place was empty by the time (8:30) the private parties were finished.......... and we left at 9PM. 2-1/2 hours for a poor meal :) Oh Well Will not go back --to expensive and not first class or second class.

Last Saturday night 10 of us were out to celebrate a birthday, but there was a power outage at the restaurant we originally went to. I called Harry's, and asked if they had room for our group, and they were able to seat us quickly on short notice in one of their private rooms. The place was pretty lively and they had a great jazz trio playing, right up my alley. To top it off, bottles of wine are 1/2 off on Saturday nights, and they've got a pretty extensive list. We've been here before and the food and service are always good, but the place had a whole different vibe this time, like it was the place to be, not just a place to eat. Some of the people in our group had not been to Harry's before, and came away very impressed.

Food was ok-fairly average. Went for a business lunch, my associate and i had the fish special. Small portion, nothing exciting about the flavor. The waiter didn't bother to tell us that special was $29 each!!!! For a lunch item!!!! I thought this was deceptive. I won't be going back.
