Rhinoceros Cafe and Grill
This is a quaint, intimate bistro on Coronado Island that attracts numerous diners with its eclectic menu, easy attitude and style. The establishment is dog friendly and offers a charming sidewalk seating area where you can people watch and absorb the clean Coronado air. There is something on the menu for everyone including steak, Southwestern meat loaf, ribs, poached salmon, chicken and pasta dishes. Beer and wine are available with meals.
We loved this restaurant we went for breakfast staff was friendly and nice, the food size was huge and the pancakes tasted like vanilla ice cream! Yum! We came back a second time during our vacation, and will def go back
Please steer clear of this establishment. There are too many other well run restaurants with great service and great food in the area. Owner was very unapologetic for the unacceptable wait. She acknowledged that the kitchen was extremely slow, but that she was unwilling to do anything about our wait. My family and I left without eating. Will NEVER vist this restaurant again!!!
Wonderful, accomodating staff, many have been there for many years. Diverse menu, all good. Penn Vodka a specialty, but Trout will bring tears to you eyes, it's so great. Southwest meat loaf superb
We come to SD every year for our group's meeting. Not unusual for us to dine with relish 3-4 times during our 5-day stay.
Wait staff friendly, knowledgeable and very professional.
Can't go wrong...................hard to do any better. These folks have it down to a science............and an art.
We travel to Calif. a couple of times a year and every time we go here. Sometimes for lunch and dinner! Their Lobter Bisque is the best ever! The last time I was there I ate two bowls!! We always ask for Judy, she has been our server for the past 3 years and always remembers us. I can't wait to go back!
We were in Cornado for several days. Stopped by the restaurant for lunch and was very pleased. The food and service were great. Their wine list was reasonable---we could actually buy a bottle of Sonona Cutrer Chardonnay cheaper here than at the package store down the street. We liked it so mcuh, we went back for dinner two days later. It is worth a visit.
A few girlfriends and I wanted to go have a nice lunch last week. We live on Coronado and are new to the area, so we really wanted to try this restaurant out. After reviewing the lunch menu, we were excited to give them a try. After waiting around for a hostess, who never came, we seated ourselves. Each of us had our strollers, so we maneuvered our way to the back so we're not in the way of anyone. It was an early lunch, so there was only one other customer there and a lot of empty tables. After getting a little situated, the hostess finally showed up. We requested high chairs, only to find out that they had no high chairs at all. That just spoke out that they were not a family-oriented restaurant. We decided to leave since it would be very inconvenient to have to feed our children in their strollers. I later called that evening to ask why they don't have high chairs to accomodate families with small children. The person on the phone said that they have very limited space and that people just feed their children in their strollers. Which didn't make sense to me since strollers take up a whole more room than high chairs do. At any rate, I refuse to go there until they have high chairs. I'm sure the food is great and would like to give them another chance, but what snobs to just not try to make it more comfortable for families.
This is our favorite place to eat on Coronado. We attend the nearby theater regularly and most of the time have dinner at Rhinoceros cafe. We love taking friends from out of town there. Such a California experience.
We travel to San Diego a lot from Arizona and always have dinner at The Rinoceros Cafe. We have two teenagers who aren't always easy to please and they love it here. Both the food and the ambiance are consistantly good.
