Tio Carlos Mexican Restaurant, San Diego

Tio Carlos is a very good Mexican restaurant!! The food is outstanding and authentic, the service efficient and comfortable. And the prices cannot be beat!!

Right down the street from my daughters place. We walked here for lunch. All I can say is chile rellenos! These stuffed peppers are a thing of joy. All of the sauces here are so authentic tasting and the queso is smooth with a spicy hint. Great lunch even if the location is odd!

Amazing food, amazing service and amazing cocktails. I love this place! Feels like your with your family... You will not be dissapointed!!

First, the best margaritas in town are at Tio Carlos. You can't drink just one, they're that good. Three generations of my family have dined here for over thirty years, and I can't remember anyone of them ever leaving unsatisfied. The place is personal, often with family members serving you. I don't want to start naming all the dishes that are good or exceptional, because I don't have enough space and I might leave some out, but the Lobster Puerto Nueva jumps to the forefront. Lobster and margaritas with friendly family style service, it doesn't get better than that. Thank you for your military service and a great place to dine.

I was just reading the reviews and surprised to read even that one bad one because I eat there all the time and have never had bad food. I am 100% mexican and the food at Tio Carlos is VERY authentic. They also have healthy + Vegitarian options like frijoles de la hoya instead of refried beans if you are watching your weight. Fajitas are amazing!!!! Lobster Puerto Nuevo style is well worth the wait!!! Instead of driving to Puerto Nuevo drive to PL. Drinks are always strong and super yummy!!! Complimentary chips and salsa better than any other place!! Service was great. the building is old but that's never stopped me. Plus they have a great terrace if you want to RSVP for a party out there AND you can order MARGARITAs by the pitcher! :)

Best Mexican resturant ever! Don't be decieved by the location, the food is amazing and worth a visit. I've had the chimichangas, chile relleno, nachos, lobster, carne asada, and the many great drinks they serve. Everytime I go the food is consistently great and the sauce they serve over the chimichangas and nachos is unbelievalbly, mouth watering, GREAT. Go see for yourself - you won't be disappointed.

i have been here it was fantasticand the food was great and the waitress was nice and the good service i was visiting my sister in san diego this restruant is way better in texas becuase where i go is called la esperanza is too smelly, dirty, the sevice is not good and the waitres are nice buut not all of them and tthe fod is little too greasy and bad he boss is too bitchy and picky nosey, little know it all and she like to mind people business because she doasent like when her costumers talk about diets when one of her emplyees is on a diet and she so high strung and when you here in texas i recomen hildago is the best mexican rest. than ls esperanza the boos is name riena trejo shes takks about bad things mexicans restruant in san diego, and florida so watch for her ok she might go over there soon ans tthe treats he costumers bas sometimes well here in texas and her emplyess because some got fired becasue the she is and shes got 3 ugly sons and one of them is dating a emplyee used to be pretty but now shes not

I am full Mexican and this is the first restaurant that I have ever been to that I can say is REAL Mexican food. They make all their food as if you were in a real Mexican home. I went there to try their enchiladas suizas and they taste just like my moms. They use fresh ingredients and provide excellent customer service.

I LIKE EATING IN THE PATIO WITH THE STREET VIEW, THIS IS OUR FIRST STOP ON EVERY TRIP TO SAN DIEGO, ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT ALL THE FAMILY IS EXITED ABOUT COMING TO SAN DIEGO TO EAT AT TIO CARLOS.
