Sushi Deli 1, San Diego

Awful, terrible. Do not go here. Sure, the food is ok and is actually good given the very low prices. There is a long wait and it is noisy, but that is no surprise. But, today I had a horrible experience. My son and I arrived at 1:15 pm. End of lunch rus but 75 minutes before closing. We ordered quickly and the waitress brought our soups right away. But, then, brefore barely starting the soup the waitress brings my son's order, chicken tempura platter. Ummm, ok, that isn't terrible, but. Then,, no food for me. No waitress. Or I see her but she runs by without stopping. I ordered the sushi monthly special so nothing esoteric, unusual, in fact, something that they are presumably making frequently all day long. 20 minutes goes by. My son is starving so he starts eating his now cold chicken tempura. The waitress finally stops by (I have my head on the table) and says she is sorry for the delay. I try to ask her how much longer but she is gone. 10 more minutes, my son is done eating and still no sushi. We just left. Still no waitress. This place is terrible. To serve one person at a table 30+(?+++) minutes before the other, to never tell me when my food would be ready or to offer a substitute or an appetizer, awful. Do not go here

If you're looking for quick and consistantly good sushi you should try sushi deli! It's a great place to stop in for a quick lunch!

It's a good affordable restaurant. Don't go if you are a food critic or looking to leave thinking you just ate the best sushi in the world.

If you are looking for inexpensive and decent sushi this is definitely your place. Sushi deli is perfect for satisfying your sushi craving on a tight budget. Just be aware that there is usually a long wait to get in to this place, so be sure to come early.

This Sushi Deli isthe 1st of the 3 and I would actually say that they've come a long way as this location is small in which tables are bunched together, service is slow because there's so many people and the wait time is outrageous because of the amount of people wanting to go. Overall, the sushi is good for the price. I think the most expensive roll is $10! I love the sushi deli chain but would recommend either sushi deli 2 in downtown or sushi deli 3 in clairemont.

Cheap, cheap, cheap! Good, good, good! Only downsize is the wait. Not the place to go with a large party but great for cozy meals.

Sushi Deli is good sushi at a not gunna break your bank account price! The service and food are great! The only downside is you typically have a wait, but the line usually moves pretty quick. Definitely worth the wait if you have the time!!

sushi deli is the best sushi resturant ive EVER been to, the staff is are ALL wonderful and extreamly hard working, Anyone who says the service is slow or the wait staff or cashier are doing a bad job are COMPLETE idiots who thing they are more important then any other costomer and they are not!!! just because your food takes a while it because its a nice resturant and it very very very busy, the employees are human beings not sushi despensing machines, if you want you food fast go to the damn crap in the box next door you whiny little pricks!!!!!!

I eat sushi a lot. This place I have been at twice. This has best prices for sushi that I have every been too. It's not great sushi but decent sushi. I have much worse sushi at other places. I personally will go back to this place because it's a good value and I am not in college so I need go deal. If you are a true sushi person than you might want try other places sushi at Sushi Ota which is alot more expensive and typical is full of Japan's customers. If you go to Sushi Deli Express expect great prices with average quaility sushi. It is a great deal.

Best Specialty rolls and best prices in San Diego hands down! Theres so much to chose from and the prices are so good, you can leave there stuffed and your bill is barely nothing. It sucks you have to wait outside and its always packed, but theres a cool little irish pub next door. We usually just out in our name, and check the list after every drink to see how close we are to being called. The only bad thing i have to confess, and is why im taking off a star....this place has the worst service. It seems the more go, each time the service is worse. Last time i was there, we were seated and no one talked to us for 20 min. Then when we got our sushi they forgot to bring us wasabi and chop sticks. I hope they get there stuff together in that department.
