Five stars for the food! I read other reviews and was skeptical because there aren't many good Chinese restaurants in Vista, but I was pleasantly surprised. We ate there last night. They start you with a heaping bowl of crispy noodles (Yum!), and the menu had a wide selection. My plate was Kung Pao Chicken (xtra spicy), fried rice, AND eggrolls, cream cheese wontons, and shrimp tempura. All for under $10! Hot & sour soup was extra, but it was delicious! My husband also had a yummy dish of orange chicken and sweet & sour pork, also under $10. I'd say it's a great place for take-out because it had more of a diner-like feel; not a place you'd take a first date to for sure. But after 3rd date, go for it! The food was great and we'll be repeat diners for sure!
I have been a patron of Golden Dragon since 2003. The cook is exceptional, and he allows you to plce orders that are not on the menu. Among my favorite dishes are moo shu chicken, spicy eggplant with pork, bok choy with chicken in garic sauce. The barbequed sliced pork is an exceptional apetizer. If you like special soups, you can't go wrong.
It is a pleasant place in which to dine. The majority of the time, I place takeout orders, and I often find myself the beneficiary of a free entry that is always a delightful surprise. No other Chinese restaurant in the area can match the quality of the dishes that this family operated business produces so consistently well.
I find it is always worth making the 15 minute drive each way to get my fix of this great Chinese cuisine. Only one warning: order less than you are tempted to order. It is easy to over order when the food is so good.
