I am from Texas and right when I moved down to the San Diego area - everyone would not shut up about this place! So I had to go and ended up staying there the entire night. Great atmosphere and nevertheless great food! The beer is amazing too. I also went to the one in Escondido - which for some reason I almost liked better! You wouldn't even know that it was a brewing house it is so hidden. Go check it out if you have not yet!
I went to the downtown Karl Strauss after winning a gift certificate. My girlfriend and I eat ribs and pasta, and it was terribly dry and unfresh. I've had much better food at TGI Friday's, and the prices could have been better. Also, the outdoor seating has hardly any lighting. Avoid this place if you can.
My father is a Captain for United Airlines and was on layover here in San Diego. He took me to lunch here and it was delicious. I am not a big drinker and can not stand the taste of beer, so I have always avoided eating at a brewery. However, I enjoyed the lemon chicken I ordered there. As my job as a daughter, I also took a few bites of my father's meal. =) His was delicious too. The server was great. She recommended dessert which was also delicious, and was very friendly. She made sure my glass was always filled as well as my stomach. Good job guys. I'll be back!
