AWFULLY HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service. It took this restaurant over 30 min to serve me 1 specialty California roll and the place was not busy.
The 2 sushi chiefs were confused about what orders went out and where to sending orders to the wrong table. While I was waiting for the over 30 min for sushi, both sushi chief at times were not doing anything.
Do not get me wrong, the roll was good but the service was pitifully. I personally will not go back due to high priced sushi and horrible services
PS: When this was owned by someone else about 10yr ago, the sushi was excellent, well priced and the service was good.
Station Sushi is a local place for me. I work near by and happen into this place one or twice a week for dinner or lunch.
What you will really appreciate about your experience is the quality and amount of food that you are served. The cuts of fish are thick, the rolls are gigantic, and the sushi is always very, very fresh.
What you many not appreciate is the amount of time it takes you to get your fish if you get what you ordered at all. Whatever shows up will be fresh and big, but it may not be what you ordered.
If you don't mind missing an occasional monkey roll or eating some sake when you ordered toro, this is a great place. It may be late or different, but it's always good. That's why I go.
Don't care what anybody says...the freshest sushi around North County. It's a place to go have fun with a group and eat until you can't eat anymore. If you want service and noses in the air, go to Zen bu a ways up but you wouldn't get your money's worth when it comes to food and drinks.
Theres another station sushi in bird rock, la jolla which is way nicer with a full bar and better food and everything
and they have a facebook fan page for station sushi in solana beach and bird rock! :)
this place is the best. service is not always the best because its always packed but its sooo worth it
The food was pretty good and large portions, but the service staff is absolutely horrible. The staff was outright rude and extremely unorganized. Even though the food was good, I would never go back there because of the service.
Definitely come here if you're hungry and want to party! This place has loud pumping music, a loud young crowd and is small. Get there right when they open for a quiet peaceful meal because the the place gets busy quickly. They're a bit more fancy with sauces and gigantic rolls. It's not real traditional but they have all the basics plus some unique creations. The Protein Roll will fill anyone's appetite. I'm not too excited about the noise level and the service drops below a zero once it gets crowded with only 3 sushi chefs making the sushi for the whole restaurant. The race track crowd can make the wait up to 45 minutes...maybe worth standing on the sidewalk for a beer...maybe not. Happy hour prices are worth it...some good deals on hand rolls and big beers.
it's the best sushi in the area. we're desperate for good sushi after being spoiled in san francisco. it's very busy now, but well worth getting there early or waiting for a table. it's not atmospheric, raucous not peaceful, and service just barely keeps up with the (now always packed) dining room.
