Taka Restaurant

Description

This Gaslamp District favorite "Taka", always draws a crowd, and you may have to wait but it is well worth it. Here you will enjoy artfully prepared offerings at modest prices. The menu features gourmet seafood, sushi and sashimi specialties. Favorite entrees include Roast Pork Chikuzen and Salmon Teriyaki, both served with rice. The fish is fresh each day. In fact, the staff recommends early reservations for guests to enjoy fish entrees before the day's fresh catch runs out.

Very good Japanese restaurant that I would definitely come back to in the future. Their quality tastes very authentic and it left me feeling refreshed rather than overstuffed. I appreciate their approach to traditional Japanese cooking.

If you are looking for authentic Japanese food I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It is one of the few I have found where they actually have Japanese style food just like in Japan. Very authentic!

Fresh

That's how the sushi is at Taka - like it just came out of the water. Freshness and superior quality separate this restaurant from other sushi restaurants in San Diego.

Best Sushi in San Diego
By ,
Taka is by far the freshest sushi in San Diego. For those that might say it's expensive. I have compared and prices are the same as other sushi restaurant here. The reason why it might seem to cost more is you eat more since the fish is so fresh. I have tried everywhere in San Diego and everywhere else is a disappointment and waste of my money. Now I know better to only eat sushi at Taka.

Unbelievable, Who Requires Tips more 18% -50%????
By ,
This is first time to have a negotiation to pay 18% or more tips. They misunderstood I am a visitor!! Please check the restroom door there is still pick up to caution to Japanese to pay more tips over 18% to 50% by Japanese words. Of course never go again!!!

Freshest Fish, Always Busy
By ,
Take the sushi chef's advice for best of day. Take friends who don't eat sushi here becuase they have great filet mignon too. Small place must be willing to wait if near peak hours. Patience is rewarded
