Fidel's Little Mexico
Fidel's Little Mexico has been a San Diego landmark since the early '60s when owner Fidel Montanez came up with the idea to serve tacos at his busy barber shop. The shop was located in the heart of Eden Gardens, a small neighborhood in Solana Beach that was home to a number of Mexican families. The tacos sold like hotcakes, and before long, the place evolved into a neighborhood cantina. The business thrived and expanded as Fidel converted his two-story residence into three different levels, including a festive courtyard, a couple of bars and outdoor patios, and a taco bar. Today, Fidel's ranks among the top restaurants in San Diego County. Happy hour is offered four days a week in the large upstairs bar. Fidel's menu offers traditional favorites as well as house specialties that will transport you and your party South of the Border.
I've been going to Fidels in Solana Beach for over 15 years and it's always the best food and service in town!! This place is good for all ages and for all occassions. The chicken burrito with enchilada sauce over it is my favorite dish! Their hot sauce is the best ever and I often order it to go for parties.
I love Fidel's. The food is great, and I have never had horrible sservice, infact I almost always have avbove average service. Definitely my top pick for Solana Beach, and I'll go a step further and say it's the best Mexican Food in North San Diego County. I prefer the atmosphere of the Solana Beach Fidel's but Carlsbad is great as well.
