I don't live in the area, but do visit 3-4x per year, and I will pay them a visit each time I am in San Diego. They have excellent soup and vegetarian dishes. They are a little hole in the wall across from City College. I'd recommend them for casual dine in or take out.
We lived in SD several years ago and I used to eat at Gen Lai Sen every chance I would get. That simply means, often. My hubby and kids loved the food. I am missing the food so much, I have been searching for Hakka food in NYC. No luck. I might have to book a flight to SD to satisfy my Gen Lai Sen cravings.
