Sushi Deli 2 Restaurant, San Diego

Awesome sushi and awesome prices. I pigged out and it was so worth it!!!

I love this place. The food is great and a good value. I go for lunch and dinner. My only complaint is the service it can be iffy. I can go and get an awesome server and then I can go and get someone who feels like their just going through the motions and doesn't want to be there at the moment. There can be a wait, but hey you can go to Denny's and have a wait. They are usually pretty prompt at getting you in as soon as they can.

The sushi was delicious! It is the best part of my trips to san diego. EXPECT TO WAIT for quite a while if you're visiting for dinner. Both times that ive been to this restaurant, i've spent about 20$ for two people including beverages and left full and happy. RECOMENDED

This is THE best sushi place we go anywhere, the sushi is great at like 1/2 the price you'd expect a downtown sushi place to be. Only downside is that they are SO popular and busy you have to get there right when they open and wait in line or you can be there for an hour trying to get a table in a super-crowded room! Good luck on the weekends! We don't even try. :) Oh, try their Sunshine Rolls. Its like $4 mmmmmm . . . /drool.

I'm really surprised at these bad reviews... I have never had a bad experience at Sushi Deli 2. I am a regular, and let me tell you the staff has never been anything but nice to me and my party. They are attentive and polite. I honestly feel that if you are getting bad service it's because you yourself are being rude or obnoxious. Most people don't understand how much work it is to serve people. This place gets super busy. And there are always rude and drunken people thinking that they should be waited on hand and foot... Doesn't work that way people. Be nice and you'll get exemplary service. I have nothing but good things to say about Sushi Deli 2. It's the only Sushi place I recommend in Downtown SD. I recommend it to our guests at the hotel where I work even. I've been to Ra and Sushi Itto, and while the wait is not at all long there, the menu just doesn't cut it. I will rush in before closing time just to get my Sushi Deli 2 fix... We've even penciled them into our budget. The staff is absolutely awesome! So awesome in fact, that one particular server, went out of her way to give four of us hot chocolate on a cold night upon us heading out. She is our favorite server, Amber. I was with a friend that had come down from Vegas and had never been there before, yet left very pleased with a full belly and a cup of hot cocoa. I have never had better service... Sushi Deli 2 is number 1!!!

Food is ok but not worth the other parts.. service horrible! Each time I've attempted to go there, there is a line out the door! I tried to go and sit at the Sushi bar one time but was sent away saying other people may want to sit there, but the hostess didn't even ask (the bar was completely empty) Another time I've gone I was seated right next to a speaker where my head was pounding during every bite. Definitely won't recommend this place to anyone!

I've been going to the DT sushi deli for about 1 year now, never have had problems, good food for the $$. Service is ok, never been rudely treated. And we usually go on Fridays in and out within the hour..:)

Three of my friends and I went there today, and we were all beyond pleased. The restaurant opened promptly at 5:00pm and we were seated very quickly, although there was a wait when we left around 6:00pm. The service was fine, not great, not bad, which was a pleasant surprise considering the place has caught a bad rap for its service. The sushi was amazing for the price, but our food was not brought out together, so two of us waited at least 5 minutes for our food, while the sushi was brought out in a matter of 5-10 minutes after we ordered. Over all, it was a great experience, with amazing food for the price. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone who is willing to get there a little before it opens.
